May I have your thoughts/experiences on self disembarking off the Conquest? Also will coffee/breakfast be available? And what is thee latest one is allow to selfdisembark? Thank you in advance for your reply.
The self debarkation usually starts at 7:30. It could start even earlier. You will have to be able to carry all your own luggage off the ship. Yes, you will be able to get something to eat early.

Thank you so much for your reply. For some reason I was under the impression that the process started at 6:30am and I was fearing a long drive with no coffee to get us kick started. Again, thank you
They do warn you to be ready to get off as early as 6:30 am and once they start letting people off, there is about a one hour window for self debark. Dining room and lido were both open and things were much less hassle than waiting for your color to be called (especially if you happen to be the last group called)
The self debark. question seem's to be a toss up. I have read this and other board's on this subject and it seem's people really like it or hate it, no in between it seem's.I do not know whether to try it or not? Tom

Remember you must be able to carry all of your belongings off without assistance. You are also subject to random check of your luggage as this is done to all luggage taken off by the cruise line prior to disembarcation. I have seen people "carted off" because they though they could get away with certain items by self disembarking.
But is the hassle worth it? Do a large portion of the passengers do it? What time will you get off the Legend if you let them handle your bag's?Is it 1 hour difference or is it 2-3 hours difference? How long has Carnival been doing this?Just curious! Tom

I have been on 2 cruises this last year 2005 and we used the self debark on one of them and the old fashion way on the other and january 2006 we used the new relaxed debark and we were off the ship by 10:30 am and we picked up our luggage in customs we were out of the pier area by 11;00 am and on our bus heading to the airport getting off the ship very short line getting off took about 7 to 10 minutes.
Carnival started the program back in Jan 2004. If you don't take the self debark then how soon you get off the ship would depend on the order the colored luggage tags are called. They usually call those in the top decks first, and people who have early flights before noon. Then they work down to the lower decks.
they have a new program called relax debarking no calling of color tags any more at least the Miracle was that way you left the ship when you were ready to leave once they got all the foreign travels checked thru customs and everyone bills were paid
Hi Tom , we were on the Miracle in Tampa in Jan 2006 and this was the first time we ran into relaxed debarking what a great thing there was no crowding, people were taking thier time eating breakfat and just hanging out, we were only in line for less then 10 minutes we got off the glass elevator and the line was there and they had 4 machines checking our sign and sail cards what a pleasure to not fight the crowd or wait for that color coded tag.
hi Tom , I do not know if other carnival ships are offering the relaxed debarking The miracle was the first cruise I was on this year so it might be a trial thing to see if it works out better, we are doing one in april so we shall see if they are offering it also, maybe if you contact Carnival direct maybe they would let you know I just know it was really nice not to fight the other passengers off the ship it was rally pleasent leaving Fran
My personal cruise planner from Carnival called today. She said that relaxed debarkation was not available on the Legend.I would like to try that some time in the future. I hope it work's out on the test ship's. Tom

Thomas, You said your personal cruise planner from CCL called you. Just curious, when did you book your cruise? and did you book in direct to the 800#, on the CCL website, a TA, or another intenet sight?
Cruise I booked the cruise several months ago. I checked prices with 2 travel agent's and CCL. 1 travel agent was about the same price but did not give me some of the discount's. So I booked it with my personal planner, got all her discount's, she got credit for the sale. Then I switched it to the t/a we normally use and got an extra $50.00 bonus, everybody was happy including me.My personalplanner at CCL is Diana Vasquez, very helpful and will use her again.I hope this answer's your quetion's, if not ask away! Tom
