Just wondering if there is a lost & found section. I just returned off the Carnival Destiny and found an item in my cabin that I would like to return, I have called Carnival they are doing a search. Any other suggestions? Leigh

Welcome back Leigh, hope you had a great cruise. I would have turned it into the Purser's office, but since you're back, you've done the right thing by calling Carnival. Not much else you can do at this point in time.
On a trip on the Fantasy last year, I misplaced a pair of prescription sunglasses. I thought they were lost so I went to the desk and asked for lost and found. The guy gave me a quizzical expression then he grinned broadly and went to the back and brought out a cardboard box containing: sunglasses; iPods; Blackberries; etc. etc. He set the box in front of me and asked if any item in there was mine. It was a weird situation. By the way, my sunglasses turned up in my camera case (where my wife told me to look in the first place).

on one of our cruises, i think it was out of jacksonville, I found 3 ladies diamond rings in our safe, I immediately turned them in to the pursers desk, I told her just to find out who had the cabin before us and tell them they have the rings. She said it wasnt that easy. (couse nothing is easy, but I liked my idea best) she said they have to go to Carnivals main office to the lost and found. I often wondered what happened to the rings, I hope they got back to their owner.
Macmom, CCl's comment makes sense. There is no proof the people using the cabin prior to your sailing even used the safe. So the rings could have been from two sailings before yours or more.
I agree totally with you that it could have been from several sailings earlier, but how hard would it have been to contact them and asked them to identify something they may have left in the safe. what would it take 6 letters and stamps...then again that might be just what they did, i certainly hope so.
I hope the good karma is returned to you ten fold for doing the right thing about this.
My sister misplaced her watch once and it was at the purser's desk. On this last cruise (I didn't want to admit this) I lost my mini wallet in the casino. It had my id, and $40 in cash in it. The bungee cord thing attached to my Sail & Sign card apparently had snagged it and pulled it out of my pocket. I was in a panic and told one of the slot technicians. Within seconds the assistant casino manager came to me and asked me to follow him to the cage. Thank God someone had turned it in. I wasn't worried about the $40, it was my id so I could get on and off the ship. The $40 was there too.

glad you got your i d and money back. it always makes me feel good to do the right thing. On the legend in sept on the first day of the cruise I lost my sunglasses, they were never turned in. Hope who ever found them enjoys them.
If I were the person who turned it in, Dwayne... You would have gotten your wallet, your ID, and $36 after extracting my customary 10% finder's fee. (just kidding)

Robert, I would have been glad to pay that, and buy you a drink too.
Come to find out it was a lady I had been playing beside of earlier from Orangeburg, SC that turned it in. She recognized me from the id. I thanked her profusely the next night.
Oh, this get's better. I left my camera in the taxi on the way to Paradise Beach! When I noticed it I told the taxi rep. at the entrance. He wanted to know the number of the taxi. I had no idea. All I knew it was a lady driver. He said they only had a few and he would do his best. I wasn't worried about the driver, it was who got in the taxi after me. They were on their radios for a couple of hours back and forth. I went up to the bar and talked with Fernando, who knew that I knew Tom (the guy that runs the place that was off that day) and he told me he had called the taxi office and they had it at pier for me. Wheeeew!
I can't believe I lost two things on one cruise, and they both were returned to me. That's why I am a big believer in karma and doing the right thing. I usually only lose my Sail & Sign card in the machines. Guess I will have to start putting bungee cords on everything.

Years ago my cousin and I were in San Francisco for the day. He lost his wallet, had about $500.00 in cash in it. He reported it, but knew it was bye bye. about a week later he got it in the mail. The person who found it did not give his/her name. They just left a note telling him they had used a few dollars for postage. the rest of in there.
Thank you all for your input, I found this item on my last day, I wanted to bring it to the pursers desk but after discussing it with our group I felt that I might be better off reporting it when I got home,as I did to Carnival making sure it was given to the right owner. Carnival said they will go through the manifest,(go back 4 weeks) see if anyone has reported any lost items, they have my email, my past guest number etc and will contact me if anything comes up. I was kind of hoping that there was a lost & found on cruise chat and might be an idea to open one. The item was left by a past guest so even if I had turned it in to the pursers desk they would not know who's it was, this way I will know if it is returned. I will hold on to this so if anything comes up.....you know where to reach me. PS my cruise was GREAT!!!, a little rocky but great, looking forward to the next one. Leigh

Leigh, glad you had a great cruise. Hopefully Carnival will track the owner down. We don't have a lost and found section unfortunately. If you don't mind me asking, what was the item? We can do this, I can change the topic description to the item found and the ship and sail date and feature it up top for a while for you. We probably shouldn't mention the cabin number though. I am willing to do that, just let me know.

Dwayne, it is a piece of jewelry. I was on the Destiny Nov 3-7th. If you would like to post it, by all means please do. Thanks. Leigh

I lost my cell phone on Destiny in September. I reported it to the pursers desk and even told them where I thought it might be ... we finally were able to figure out how to return to the scene of the loss after several false starts and there is was - in had fallen out of my pocket during the life boat drill and was under the edge of the curtains in the lounge area they had me wait in ... apparently when the cleaned the floor they pushed it farther back against the wall. I reported the find to the Pursers desk and still got a note from them at cruise end that they had not found my cell phone but would notify me if it was found!
