Funny question....my hubby and I love sushi and saw that it is available on our ship...has anyone had food sickness from Carnival's sushi. We've been to some not so great restaurants and regretted it later. We really don't want to have to deal with the "not so fresh" sushi side effects while on the boat. Is it safe to try?

Although I am not a fan of sushi, I know that it is safe to try. But, on my most recent Carnival cruise the lines were exceedingly long for service, and in that case I am not sure I would consider it worth it. Of course, speaking with people in these verrrry long lines who were very willing to wait in line everyday bodes well for its quality.

I had sushi on the Victory, it was great. The lines were not too bad when I went.

Sushi is definetly an acquired taste. If you are going to try it for the first time, ask the sushi chef, which one is good for first timers.
I have tried sushi and like it. One of my favorite is called the "California Roll". So far I have not gotten sick from eating it. But I think it is safe. If someone ever got sick from eating sushi on a cruise, we would all hear about it. |

Although I posted the question...I thought others might want to know what I thought of the sushi now that we are back home after the cruise.
It was good, although nothing extraordinary if your a sushi buff. Each night we had 4 rolls to choose from. You could get as many of them as you want, but there were just the 4 kinds. We never had to wait in a line. It seemed many people were trying it for the first time, and the must have expected it. Only 1 roll was actually raw. Inspiration 11/26/2005 |

Yes, that was my experience on Elation as well. Long line, average sushi. There was one roll with some kind of hard noodle in it that I threw out. The sushi bar is an overall plus, however. Kids loved it.

I was wondering about the sushi too. And I meant what kind of sushi they are offering. The agent I booked my cruise with told me that there are soft shell crab roll etc. I'm a big sushi fan, so I hope there's some good rolls to try. Oh and are there different rolls every night or the same one every night?

Different rolls every night. On my cruise the sushi bar opened at 5. That means you can eat lunch, have high tea at 3, sushi at 5, and dinner at 6.15 if you are early seating. My kids tried to bridge those offerings and avoid suffering by eating pizza in between. I gave up on the sushi after a day or so because of the lines...
