cruzinallthetime has all the right to attack my opinionated dea on how to "rebel against the cruise lines unfair charges".

Hi Life....I have to admit that I actually go on a cruise to enjoy myself - not to join a rebellion against a $40.00 Fountain Card. Is the world full of wrongs - of course - but I don't use it to justify my decisions.....

I love the cruise experience as it appears you do as well. Enjoy your cruise. Bon Voyage

Is there any cruise lines' rule that says, You can not use your and/or an old fountain card?

According to the description of the soda fountain package on Carnival's website the package is "for the duration of the cruise". So yes, it is deceptive to knowlingly and deliberately reuse the fountain card on a different cruise.

Hum, I would like a new plasma TV, a bit short on cash after paying for this November cruise though. Let's see Best Buy should be closed soon...

To convey my apologies once again, here's my
greetings for my fellow, fun-lovin' kroozers.

Wishin' all the cruisers...
Comfort on stressful, troubled & delayed travel days,
Smiles & laughs when embarkation dilemmas intrude,
Bright rainbows to follow the dreary sailaway clouds,
Visions of the cruise fairy sprinkling U with happiness.

Sunsets to warm your fun persona and excited heart,
Strangers' hugs when spirits & few body parts sag,
New cruiser friendship to brighten your classy being,
A complete person for your eyes to see in the mirror,

Confidence for when you doubt others and the world,
Faith so genuine that you can be proud and believe,
Courage and strength to know people and yourself,
God-given patience & poise to accept the real truth,

And never-ending cruise excitement and ecstasy
to share with your friends, loved ones & others.
To all, Have a Blessed Cruise !

And while I thank all for their forgiveness Wink....

The happiest of cruisers don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

PS: Just in case one may feel like cruisin' at the last minute, join me &
my 110 Fun Cruisers' Private Cocktail Party at the CCL Paradise, Rex disco
at 5pm, Nov 30, 2006. With my compliments, it's all U-can-drink Booze

Yes I will also be one of those travellers hauling their own soda & possibly water and yes a bottle of rum on board, not so much to save $$$ or beat the system but it is all about convenience. I may wake up in the middle of the night and desperately need some water, don't want to wait for room service or go down to the restaurant. Also I enjoy a drink while getting ready to go out and there is nothing like a brandy & baileys on your balcony before bed. As well sometimes the fountain soda's don't always taste the way they should. More importantly my daughter is a diabetic and you cannot always trust that you are getting "diet" so for that reason alone I will take advantage of bringing the soda but I do plan on purchasing a soda card as I do not want to have to run back to my cabin everytime I need a drink. I figure that if I can't afford a $40 soda card of if I can't afford to buy my own bar drinks....maybe I should be going to an all inclusive resort. I kind of like sitting at the bar getting served while on vacation and getting to choose from all different types of drinks, in nice glasses with fruit. We all know that when going on a cruise it means an added bar bill at the end, so prepare.I guess we have to keep in mind that everyone has their own way of doing things, and if scamming a few drinks is all that is done so be it. We're all out there to have fun and I will be having LOTS of it very soon on our cruise Nov 17.
Happy sails

Hey Life, hope to meet up with you sometime on a future cruise. You sound like someone worth getting to know. I know, just from your posts, that you'll have a FABULOUS time on your upcoming voyage, but best wishes from me nonetheless. I'll be taking my daughter and mother on their first cruise in December, I only hope we can make some interesting and fun new friendships.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your wife. I work in a Dr's office and after 15 years of seeing bad things happen to good people I still curse the unfairness of it!! Glad to know you have found solace and happiness within a supportive network of friends. "Ewww, we get by with a little help from our friends!!" (sorry, it seems I sing just as badly in print as my daughter asserts that I do in person!)

I normally don't do a lot of posts to this board; generally just ??'s and the occasional recommendation. But when I got on the other night and read your rather innocuous post and the follow-ups ("disgusting", "cheap", "tacky") a got riled and my instincts (my father would've called it my liberal streak) were to protect. Sounds silly I know, but for whatever reason, it struck a nerve; like in elementary school when a kid volunteered an answer that you knew was wrong but you still felt bad when everyone scoffed or laughed at him. I've traditionally been a very live and let live type of person, but the older I get and the more "society & politicians" try to cram their "morality" down my throat, the more I've begun to rebel and bristle at attempts by others to re-opinionate me.

P.S. Just to clear up a few items. . .
If $40 isn't spare change to you, then I obviously wasn't referring to you in my earlier post since I clearly prefaced it with "for those of you who believe".
And my "splendid glass homes", wasn't a reference to monetary worth or any such thing, but merely my round about way of referencing the old tried, but still true, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". IE, you'd be hard pressed to convince me that there is anyone out there who hasn't STOLEN (gasp), whether it was taking two samples when the sign clearly said, Please Take One or when the teenager at the check-out gives you a dollar too much back in change, or when you had a little taste of your friend's dessert she got at the all-you-can-eat buffet (no sharing please). Ethics. . .Morals. . . even when I disagree I try to check the down-the-nose attitude at the door 'cause to the best of my knowledge there has reportedly only been ONE PERFECT person EVER and I'm certain he's not posting on this site.

Hey, hey Pagan and all... Indeed the good Lord taketh my cruise mate, but He giveth a brand
new beginning for me & my family. During the sad moments, I've coined the phrase: There's no time to feel, sorry, sad & grieve... when there are so many caring FunFrenzFamily who give. The Lord grants us with daily blessings as if He's saying: "Live today as if it's the beginning of the rest of your life".

Thanks to your uplifting testimonial, Pagan. Hey, we'll hook up someday along with the other posters. Echoing your sentiments, my 110 FunFrezFam Nov. cruisers responded to my email call & will be sharing their FUN. Dance cruisin, we'll do! We'll get the electric/cha cha slide goin', hula hips shakin', bump n'grindin' & we be jammin' to frenzy.

If I may suggest to the new cruisers, don't hold back on krooz FUN. Start the cruisers' laughter at the long embarkation line. See the crazee congaline? Join it cause nobody knows you. The fellow cruisers will only know you as one livin' la vida loca. And why not? Besides, cardio dancercizin' is one fun way to unload the cruise calories.

As we all have found out at our respective cruises, it's always amazing to experience new relationships with newfound friends from near & faraway lands. As evident with the upbeat posts, cruising enhances one's fresh new perspective on life. As advised extensively, we penny-pinch & find ways to save, then we extravagantly blow it all with friends and the numerous pricey & life-enhancing cruises that we're all addicted to. Truly enigmatic, isn't it?

With all the lavish cruise ambiance, amenities & world-class service, WE, including Island Cruz, cruizinallthetime, Larry in Miami, Cruise Fanatic, annies, tanyababanya, JimC, richjester, fivepoints & others are all like millionaires-in-training. We deserve it, don't we?

I see nothing wrong with being spend thrifty. I didn't purchase a soda card because I don't really drink alot of pop but what I did do was when we were at PAnama, I purchased a whack of booze for gifts for my relatives and a 2.5 litre bottle of Pepsi at the grocery store on shore. I walked onto the ship and the security guard who was standing at the scanner said "over to the table please." I walked over and around the corner to where the table was supposed to be, found it EMPTY. Noone taking my alcohol! Wooohooooo "FREE FOR ALL I SAY!" Just kidding all...... Lol But! What I did do was get back off the ship and went back to the grocery store and picked up a bottle of vodka, and a couple of bottles of BLoody Caesar Mix. walked back on the ship, and once again saw Noone at the table.... away I went. Up to my room for a nice homemade drink in my room. I didn't carry the drinks up on deck with me. I didn't get loaded off that bottle in one night and then hit every port to smuggle drinks on, I JUST WANTED a drink that I made myself while sitting in my room watching a bit of TV before dinner. Nothing wrong with that at all. Also, I purchased that 2.5 litre of pepsi, Didn't even finish it though it was nice after the day was through to have a nice glass of pepsi. Nothing wrong with that too. Yes I could have ordered room service to bring me down one glass of soda, but holy moly! Why would I get a waiter to run down to my cabin for that.... (I saved that for all the room service we ordered!!!) P.S Please tip the guy a few bucks when getting room service! They don't make alot of money from Carnival (From what the Stateroom Steward told my husband and I)

Have a great day and I look forward to this forum everyday!

You know Tracy I don't see any harm in doing just that. Some people do not do it to scam or cheat but to have the luxury of being able to pour your own drink your own way and sip on it in your cabin. We go to all inclusives every year and I always buy a bottle through duty free and I go to the store and buy cans of diet coke and bottles of water to keep in my room....its all free at the resort but I don't always want to be hanging around the bar....well..ok but not while I'm getting ready to go out . Roll Eyes And there is nothing like a caeser to start the night. SO I say do whatever and enjoy every minute of your cruise cause it doesn't last long.

I forgot what a rollicking good time the Carnival boards are. Name calling, retorts, forgiveness, togetherness, support- all in one thread.

I snuck Vodka on board the Elation in tiny water bottles that the airline handed out. I mixed it with the free lemonade on a few nights. When the cruise was over, I handed the left over couple of bottles to the cabin steward.

Theft? I guess so. Am I a thief? Guess so.

Carrying soda on board seems like a bit MUCH. I don't know what it is with Carnival people in particular- everyone wants to bring things on board. Box fans, soda, pens, inflatable baby pools... Even things which would easily be considered "souvenirs," like the pens, lanyards, paper, foreign money, drink glasses, etc.

Oh well! Thanks for the interesting read.

Well I bought a bottle of soda while in Panama, the only reason I did that was so we could enjoy a drink in our room (Which was down on the 200 level) couldn't be bothered trucking upstairs and using up a half hour to get one glass of soda. Now seeing the way Carnival is, and everything, I don't suggest to anyone to buy a case of pepsi and lug that on. Too much of a hassle. Just stop in port, and pick up a jug. So much easier.!!! Wave
