Has anyone ever been on this ship before. I have heard that it is old, but everyone says that the service is amazing. What are your opinions? I am going in Jan. to Cozemel. Any advice for must sees there?

Many people prefer the smaller ships because the crew and staff seem to be "closer". (less folks, etc)

The only down side for me (and this is not a down side to many) is that the Holiday does not have the atrium that has become standard on today's cruise ships. Having sailed on her many times, that is the only down side I have ever found. (and that is just because I like sitting in the atrium and watching the people).

I recommend visiting cruise-reviews and reading Dave's review of the Holiday. After reading that, I am seriously considering a quickie cruise on her this winter.

The Holiday does not have an Atrium.

But the MS Holiday packs 46,000 tons of fun.

Exceptional service from Staff and Crew.

I would gladly sail on Her again.

I took my dad on the Holiday this past summer. I was a little concerned (post-FEMA, ships age, etc.). Plus I though I might have been ruined after ships like Conquest, but Holiday shines through. She's still quite a lady, and the crew takes very good care of her. I'm looking to go on the Celebration in October. Holiday's a good ship, and a great value.
I've got a holiday review at cruise reviews myself. And I'd sail on her again with no reservations (well, yes I'd NEED reservations.. you know what I mean).
Things to do in Cozumel, SHOP!!! If there are kids involved, my daughter has voted for the excursion to Playa-Mia, and that's probably what we'll do. The Mayan ruins are always good, but make for a long day.

We sailed on Holiday in October '06. The crew was indeed terrific. Holiday does show some signs of age. We had a window cabin on main, next to the last cabin aft. It was a bit noisy. The water was a little bumpy, but not too bad. Overall it was a great cruise, and we would do it again. Food was terrific. The ports of call are very fun. But I might try to get a cabin nearer the front of the ship.

I have cruise on the Holiday twice. I would do it again. It is small compaired to the mega ship but over all it is a wonderful cruise. Holiday has the most repeat cruisers of any ship, they must be doing something right...macmom

We just went ahead and booked the Holiday for a "5 day quickie cruise" in mid-March. Yep, its one of those spring break weeks too, but our daughter (high school senior) really wants to go and take a friend. I'm just looking forward to kicking back again and you simply cannot beat the price! Cheaper than staying at home!

Man, I wish I could join you but March is just not a convenient time for us to cruise.

Wish you could too! Another couple joined the group this morning...might not even be room for the "spring breakers" if this keeps up!

Just got back from a cruise on the Holiday last week. The ship is clean, the staff is friendly and the entertainment is entertaining. Smile They did a good job refurbishing this ship. From what I heard most all complaints in the past where from FEMA people staying on the ship and who had trashed it pretty bad.

That is great to hear and thanks for the update! How was the weather going in and out of Mobile? Our cruise is in march and the weather should be similar then. (just trying to figure if a jacket will be needed on the first and last day at sea.)

Here is a photo of the lighthouse at the entrance to Mobile Bay. I took it as the Holiday left on our summer 2005 cruise.

Seeing photos like that make me want to go even sooner! Question Dave....on carnvial website the oceanview cabin photo looks like it has been upgraded and is not in that god-awful pinkish color. If that the case? it sure looks better if it is!

I don't remember room colors from our Holiday cruises, but they probably were changed in the refit after the vessel was used by FEMA. Actually we had a suite on our last Holiday cruise. On the first cruise, we had a suite and a standard outside cabin (just for me!). My wife, son, and mother-in-law stayed in the suite. I found the regular cabin to be quite nice, especially for one person. U38 was the room.

Thanks! The color of the room really doesn't matter to me, just curious. Especially with the new bedding they use, no cabin could be "bad!" If you think of any recommendations outside of whats in your review, would appreciate the input. We chose the 8:00 dinner seating this time and will be driving to the port from Spring Hill, TN that morning.
