December 1st. I have gone on many cruises the 1st week of October. I have seldom had a problem. One time our cruise itinerary was done in reverse to avoid a hurricane. The other time we did miss one port and they substitued a different one. I hope your cruise isn't interrupted by Florence.

Most likely if the cruise is totally cancelled they will offer you the choice of a full refund or to sail at a later date.

Hey Jen,

Florence will be long gone by your cruise date. But as I just also noted in another post, we are in the most active weeks now. I don't want to worry you, but I want to be truthful.

Here is a FAQ link to the topic for NOAA
http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/G1.html

I have cruised many times second week of Sept. which is in peak and had no problem, other than one in front or behind me. So got tired of worrying and changed to Oct. 22 last year. Guess what happened? WILMA !

Cruise was re-routed from western to eastern and was a great cruise. They work alot of magic re-routing the ships. They try to not cancel the cruise for obvious reasons, but will not take you or the ship in harms way. Should they have to cancel the cruise as Fanatic said they will refund the cruise.

Just keep a watch on the weather, and make sure Carnival has your correct contact info. I was in a Hotel last year and checking the site and they did not post till 5pm the night before. So if a storm is getting close check on their site for updates.

The main thing is not to get nervous, just keep yourself informed. And keep checking on Cruise-Chat too. Dave56 is really good about posting updates here. I hope you have no problems, and you most likely won't. They did downgrade the activity level again, so things are looking better for you. And don't worry at this point, we may not even have any storms in October.

Best to you,
IslandCruz

Ive Cruised for the past 3 years on my Birthday October 19th and will be going again on the 15th this year. and havent had any Hurricane problems. I hear they Rarely cancel cruises.

if anything you end up with a little more or less than your actual plans.
you may go to a different port of call. you may have to stay out at sea a few extra days till it's safe to return Smile
or have to return early.Frown
Either way your still not at work. Look at it as an adventure.
