I have a question for anyone who's ever left out of the NYC port...
We're driving from Michigan to New York Friday and leaving on the Miracle on Saturday and my husband was wondering what it's like when you park your car. Can he drop me off at the port with our luggage before he goes and parks, or will we be carting our luggage for what seems like miles? We just want to be prepared.
Any advice is appreciated!

Parking at the dock is safe and easy. Parking in New York is expensive anywhere and safety is always an issue. It's easy and convenient to park right there at the port.
Be sure you get the $24.00 a day parking rate verified in writing. I've heard price gouging stories when you go to leave. Only in New York folks! A'ndrea

Just did that 2 weeks ago. You'll pay the maximum they charge, $180.00 US for the duration of the trip. Your husband does not need to drop you off, you can park, (we were directed to the top level) unload your luggage and take the elevator down. Give your luggage to the porters and then you can wait to board. Be forewarned, if you like to be on the boat for lunch and go earlier, (around 11:15 a.m. we went) inside the terminal it is very chaotic. With the late debarking time, you will still have people getting off, porters moving their luggage, as well as, people coming in to get on the boat. Also, I don't know what traffic will be like on a Saturday, be we left on a Thursday and after going through the Lincoln tunnel it took us about 45 minutes to get through town and park for the cruise. Have fun on your cruise!
