My husband and I are thinking of taking a 30th wedding anniversary cruise on Carnival Spirit which leaves from Ensenada, Mexico for a 13 day cruise to and around Hawaii. Has anyone else taken this cruise? Or been on the Spirit? Would like to know the pros and cons on this cruise and the ship.
I can't speak for the Hawaii cruise, because we sailed on Spirit for the Alaskan cruise. But as for the ship, we loved it. VERY good layout, the crew was excellent and the food was VERY good. The great thing about the Spirit class is that something like 80% of the cabins are balcony and I think 90% have at least an oceanview. That's why they use her for the Hawaii and Alaskan cruises, you get great views.

I agree with Jim. Again, we did the Alaskan (not Hawaii, yet!!) but the Spirit itself was a beautiful ship with an excellent staff and crew. We experienced our best Cabin Steward yet. (Hey Amporn!!)
The Spirit class ships in general are our favorite. Great layout...no deadends ...

My wife and I did the Hawaii cruise on the Spirit in 2005. It was great. The ship is easy to get around and has a beautiful decor. I am not fond of the beaches in Hawaii, this is due to my size. You sink in the sand. This makes a stroll down the beach unpleasant. Ensenda was the pitts. Had to get off the ship here and take a bus, while the ship sailed to San Diego. This is due to the US laws not Carnival.Loved the five days at sea.
Spirit class is usually more tranquil if u know what a mean that for pro and for con...five sea-days !
