was on the elation april 06. I have saild 5 previous times and always dreaded disembarkation. On that sailing everyone was given the "self disembarkation" option meaning if you could carry your own luggage off the ship the you could leave the ship as soon as customs gave the ok. Is this a policy still in effect for all carnival ships? If so we are definitly packing lite and taking adfvantage of that.
This was one final laugh for my cruise. They called it the "self assist program".
If you wanted to carry your luggage down to the terminal, instead of putting it out the night before, and it be waiting for you.
I think they did this so they would not clog up the process and stairways. It was one of the funniest announcements, and I ended my cruise with a laugh

First of all, the self disembark has nothing to do with how much you paid for your cabin or what deck you are on. We were on deck two on the Liberty and were one of the first to leave. I believe they use a lottery system not a top down system. Second, unless you have a plane to catch why rush the end of a wonderful vacation?
