Yep! In addition to other upgrades, the Lido Deck and pool areas will get the new waterpark stuff. We just booked the Fantasy again for the 10/27 cruise!
I have read a lot of good information here about the Fantasy. Other sites have been horror stories. My wife and I just got back from a cruise on NCL out of New Orleans. We loved it and can't wait to cruise again. We are thinking of booking the Fantasy for the last week in Oct. 2008. What is the Evolutions of Fun? Will that be added before our Oct. trip? Also, since we only know Freestyle cruising, what tips can anyone give about meal times on a Carnival and any suggestions. Thanks a lot.
One angle not disgussed is the New Orleans cruise experience. It is great sailing down the Mississippi for 6 to 8 hours, (don't know exactly how long). We went to bed on our New Orleans cruisel before we left the river and woke up in the morning to 18 ft. swells in the gulf. It was awesome. Seasickness is nmind over matter, if yo don't mind it doesn' tmatter. Ha.
It is kind of funny how people go on a cruise and not want to experience seasickness. Kind of like going aon a plane and not wanting to feel trubulence or landing.
Yes, the Fantasy will be in drydock for its renovation/transformation during September and be back in service for October. They will add the new Lido Deck slides and adult area along with other renovations. Check out the Carnival Imagination virtual tour from Carnival website and you will have an idea of how it will look. We'll be on the same cruise!
Great to hear you will be on same cruise. Are you from Tennessee? I ask because of your user name. We are from Northern Middle Tennessee. Hope to meet you on the cruise. Thanks for the tip.
I look forward to boarding the Fantasy in October. We usually see her once or twice a year since NOLA is so close to us. I look forward to meeting Butch but I will miss Big Tex and Noonan.

We live in Nashville and love to cruise. Because of work schedules, we've been limited to short cruises from close ports. We've done Holiday twice and enjoyed Fantasy so much we decided to do it again! We'll probably have a group of 15-20 on board for the next one and look forward to meeting you also!
Yes there are safes, they're not huge, but they will hold your passports, wallets, jewelry, etc. I believe on Carnival, you use a card to lock it. On Princess, you enter your own code. It's been a while since we sailed Carnival, but I believe you used a card to lock it. It has to be the same one to open it. For example, if you use your sail and sign card and there is one for you and your spouse, whichever one you use to lock it will have to be used to open it.
I like the combination safe better than the card reader. On the card reader type, I used my sail&sign card even though it said not to. Having to use a different card and carry it with you kind of made the need for the safe a moot point. The combo is much better in my opinion and I hope they leave them on the Fantasy.
I'm with you tncruiseman. I could never find my hubby when I needed to get into the safe. With a combination, we both knew it and could access the safe anytime we needed to.
