I think Titanic should be a name retired for the history books.
Carnival's new ships for 2009 and 2011 will be Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic respectively. |

O.K. so all of these cruiselines are using the same words for their ships' names.
Is it an attempt to cloud name recognition or is there something about these words that inspire nautical images? Seriously. Are the cruiselines doing this on purpose? Yes, some of the names relate to nautical. Some were derived from names that referred to royalty. Many names are to appeal to your senses on how you should feel while you are on a cruise. Then we have the recent barrage of "Patriotic" names which everyone relates to.

Has Carnival come up with anything original lately? Borrowing names from RCCL, now Disney. Maybe they should get a jump on them and use the name Goofey! |

It does get rediculous. The last original name they came up with was Destiny. And guess what? They did not come up with it.. It was a contest to name the ship! And that one won

I may have miss-spoke about the names not being original since Destiny. I am not sure if Triumph, Conquest and Valor were original or not.
