Originally posted by who_dat: Fivepoints, Sounds like you had a great time. I've convinced my girlfriend, my brother and sister-n-law, and our kids to go on this cruise on Sept 10th. There's going to be 9 of us in 3 different cabins facing off the back of the ship. All the kids are 21-28 and they want to dance on board the ship and hit a lot of the shore excursions. Is there anything you wish you had done, that you might have missed out on? Also, did you take advantage of the early boarding in L.B., and if so, are the food places open for lunch? PS- I saw your photo's, outstanding pics.
Thanks. Yes, we got there about 12 noon and the girls are eating in one of those pics before we set sail! As far as the club is concerned, of course I was hanging around watching everything until I noticed security ALL OVER THE PLACE. I left the girls in there and went back to bed! It was extremely safe. The club was called "Beauties".
One other thing I would have done differently: I would bring "picture money" to every excursion. With the advent of digital cameras, every tour operator takes a bunch of REALLY GOOD PICS of you on the excursion and has them framed and ready for purchase when you leave. They ran from about $6 to $12 dollars. We bought a pic from each shore excursion operator. Guess they have had a lot of time to figure out JUST THE RIGHT SHOT! Worth every single penny. My favorite was one taken by the catamaran operator in Cabo San Lucas in front of Los Arcos. I felt like Jackie O in that pic.
Fivepoints, My wife and I are booked on the pride for 7-16-06 departure. We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, I plan to wear a tux at both formal nights. Hopefully we will get some nice pictures. I know most people choose not to wear tuxedos, can you tell me if I will be the only person wearing a tux or do several men choose to wear them.
I was thinking about the late dinner seating @ 8:15 does anyone know if we will miss any activities by choosing this seating. Also any advantages or diadvantages to either seating.

We saw ALOT of men in tuxes. They looked great, too. Not at all out of place.

We chose early seating 5:45pm. There were, for example, two main room (Taj Mahal) shows per night-one for early seating and one for late seating. Off hand, I cannot think of any activity which clashed with either seating.
Thank you Fivepoints for the info, it really helps alot when people like yourself foffer information to new cruisers. also good job with your pictures. Thanks again!!
we just returned from victory had requested main seating and when we arrived we were appointed late seating I went to matri'DE that night requested early seating for next night and they changed it for us, I feel that you miss alot of activities if you do late seating we had a special past guest party we would have missed and karoke, and if you are not used to eating that late you tend to eat at buffet and then when you get to dinner you are not hungry, it really your preference as to when you want to eat, hope this helps some Fran
Another thing to consider is what time your ship will leave each port...Some destinations have early times which wouldn't affect your dining. But sometimes, if you have early seating, you may end up missing dinner in the dining room, if you do any excursions and still want to spend some time in port. In the past we have always chosen early seating (so that we would have "room" for the late buffets, but lately have been re-thinking that (do we really NEED to eat heavy before going to bed?) and find with late seating you may have time for a nap before dinner. So it all depends on what you like to do. Most shows and events are scheduled so that both early and late seating times are allowed for.

The dining room dinners were sooooo nice. Talk about getting spoiled! Being served a gourmet meal every night like you're one of the Hiltons or Donald Trump! The wait staff were so nice. We had a gentleman and a lady who worked together. One thing that made it enjoyable-they actually seemed to LIKE THEIR JOBS! Imagine that in today's world?
Hi everyone, We are celebrating my dad's 70th birthday aboard the Pride (Leaving Sept 17th-24th). I will be traveling with my husband, mother and father and 10 month old baby. Any ideas on what time of excursions to do?? (considering we have a little baby??) Port of call are PV, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas.
Also, do you think I will be able to find food onboard for the baby to eat?? or do I need to pack lots of baby food??
I am glad you had a great time. What did you do the first two days aboard the Pride??? How was the food and shows?? Did you eat the the specialty restaurant??
Hi, Wer're leaving on 10/8 and this will be our 3rd Mexican Riv. cruise, but new ship. My husband and I are thinking about renting a car in Cabo instead of doing the scheduled tours. Do you have any info about this, do they talk about it during the shore excursion prog. I have found several NAME rental agencies in cabo but was also told that they have cars available when you arrive at the pier. Any advice/suggestions will be great.
The Pride is for sure my favorite ship of the 11 different Carnival ships I have sailed on.
I do the late seating for dinner. They do the shows twice. The only thing you have to watch for is the Talent Show they do only once. I get done with dinner just in time for karoake and the piano bar to start.
I could never make early because I am on the deck and then a few cocktails at the happy hour lido deck. Take a nap, shower and dinner. Then I start again. Sometimes I am more tired when I get home from a cruise

My Usuall game plan is the same. Get up at sunrise coffee on the Lido. Breakfast then hang at the pool. start Slaming Bud Lights From 11am till 4 pm go back to Cabin take a nap till 8pm, shower, dress dinner at 8:30, Karaoke after dinner, then to the Casino and clubs till 3 or 4 am. I squeeze two days out of each whole day. so I end up with an 8 Day cruise...in 4 days
