There were no leaks that I've heard of!
They were suppose to replace a lot of things. I just don't have the completion list yet. I don't want to say what was done until I know for sure. If I get time I will ask for the list if it is available.

No official list from Carnival yet. I did get some Info for you though.
The cabins were re-done with new carpets, wall coverings, and general refurbishments. The biggest news (which I predicted) is the addition of the Seaside Theatre. They also added the new "Circle C" facility for 12-14 year olds.
Well th is sad to hear I am going to miss that ship... So I suppose that carnival victory is already on Puerto Rico??? or do I have to wait a little more to see it?
Hey Thanks Dwayne.....looks like I picked the right time to sail the Destiny. I was wondering if it had the Lido outdoor screen. Am very glad to hear about the comfort beds, my best sleeps ever have been on a cruise, wonder why that is. Really appreciate you finding that info. now I am even MORE excited. Maybe thats why you have such good sleeps on a cruise... I know I don't get too much sleep before because of all the excitement so once you hit the pillow the first night...best sleep ever! and I'm sure I'm not the only sleepless cruiser. Thanks. Leigh

We were on the 1st cruise out of drydock. I don't believe the wall coverings in the cabins were replaced. Ours was in "rough" state. Nothing that was bothersome but scuff marks and a couple of places where it was loose from the walls. Also the formica was chipped off dresser drawers and closet. The plumbing needed some additional work and has probably been corrected already. Our shower overflowed at least twice, but just used towels to clean it up and it was ok next day. The seaside theater was installed. They did not do a very good job of advertising what was showing. I know at night it was music videos only and not movies. What was showing was definitely geared to the younger adults on board. They were still doing work in several places on the ship during the cruise we were on.
Not to think I'm complaining as we made the most of the cruise and enjoyed ourselves doing what we decided to do. Food was good and service by all the employees was great considering the problems that were encountered at embarkation.
I just got off the Destiny (Oct 2-6). It was by far the worst. Check-in - the computers were down. The pier agent did not know how to separate the credit card account. Staff - unfriendly. Most do not understand English. They are 90% Asian. You ask a question, you get a question. Food - Terrible. The first night I tried the steak. It was grey. It was steamed. The meat was tough. Lido Deck food - Fries and onion rings over cooked. Lido Deck food - Bugs in the jams and jellies. Lido Deck - opened the "clean silverware" and it was filthy. Someone had already used it and it was re-wrapped. The waiter took it and nver returned with new silveware. Lido Deck - asked for salt and pepper and waited 20 minutes while the waiter talked to his friend. Lido Deck - slow at getting drinks. Lido Deck - No smoking on the no smoking side was not enforced. I had to move three times in one day. Gift shops - not much in there. Room service - very slow. Debarkation - the Pier Agent was rude. I was travelling with my sister and she tried to separate us. I said no, I'm with my sister. She said with a negative attitude, "Excuse me! You can't move over one line? I said, "NO! I'M A PLATINUM GUEST! WHO ARE YOU TO TALK TO ME IN THAT NASTY VOICE? I'M CALLING YOUR SUPERVISOR!" I had enough. I did call the supervisor and she had the women apologize. Will I do the Destiny again. NO, NO, NO!
Oh! I forgot to mention, my sister's bed was broke and they had to replace the bed frame.
I am booked on the Valor for December and it may be my last cruise with Carnival for a long time.
I really enjoyed cruising the Caribbean when Carnival had "Caribbean crew" on board. From what I heard, they no longer have any employment agencies in the Caribbean, therefore they are not hiring Caribbean crew. I find that to be a real slap in the face. CCL and other cruise lines will bring their ships to the islands but no longer hire the locals to work the ships.
I heard RCCL still hires Caribbean crew so I may book a RCCL the next time I think about cruising after December.
Something about an Indosian or Philipino waiter singing "Hot, Hot, Hot" and dancing in the dining room just doesn't do it for me.
Well I remember cruising on Carnival Destiny but the crew was mostly from peru or colombian My guest they are now on the carnival Victory because I don't recall asian people on that ship so sorry I hope you enjoy your next cruise.
Just a note
they still hire people from the caribbean As I know for fact most of the time is that is not a good paying business for the employ so they have to hire from other places problem is sometimes the caribbean is not what you think it is our music is SALSA AND MERENGUE NOT CALYPSO!!! "Hot, Hot, Hot" is from Colombia. But the cruise companies like to make you think that...
I just returned from that Destiny cruise as well (Oct 2-6). While I didn't have any problem with the food or the food service staff, I have to agree that it was not one of my better cruises.
Yes, the computers were down when we embarked. Not only were they down, every time they rebooted, 75% of the passengers had to go to purser's to redo the credit on their sail and sign. 75% was the number quoted to me by the purser.
I don't know what they were doing in dry dock, but I can tell you what they weren't doing - cleaning, repairing and painting. There is rust everywhere. I counted three holes that were just carpeted over on my deck alone. At the muster drill, the grates above our heads were moldy, peeling and dripping on us. The carpeting everywhere had visible dirt on it. I never saw anyone running a sweeper.
I have another Carnival booked for Jan. on the Freedom. I hope it's in better shape. I will not be sailing on the Destiny again until it gets a little more TLC.
By the way, our dining room staff was Indonesian and they were wonderful.
I don't assess my cruises based on the ethnic and racial make-up of the crew and support personnel. They are employees of the cruise line and not there to enhance the ambience.
^^^^^^ me neither sorry if I gave the wrong impression... but My guess was since Puerto Rico is an spanish speacking island they usually send people from peru or colombia since they know the language and is easier for them... so my guess that's why I never saw people from asia and to be true they (asian people) are hard working people or thats the impression they gave us here on Puerto Rico most of the time so don't know why this bad review
