New to cruise-chat, finding some great info here! Thanks y'all!

This is my second cruise, we went on the Conquest in 5/06 had a blast! (Despite my catching a cold before the first port of call Mad )

I decided to book a short cruise out of Galveston to make it a special surprise for my girlfriend. I plan on proposing to her during this cruise! Big Grin Just haven't figured otu exactly when. During the first or second day, or while in Cozumel? I'd like to do it early int he cruise, but a tropical beach would be a nice setting as well...

Any suggestions on when to pop the question? We are just going snorkeling and hanging on the beach at one of the beach clubs, no CCL excursion for us this time.

The beach sounds nice. Or you might want to think of an innovative wave to get your waiter involved. Many years ago I was on a cruise where the waiter brought a watermelon to the table. The watermelon was carved like a bird cage and they had hidden the ring inside the birdcage. Perhaps you could just get a nice decorated cake brought to the table with a big frosting rose on it, and sitting on the rose the ring. Use your imagination, talk to the Maitre'd if you come up with an idea. Good-Luck, and I hope she doesn't know about this site.

Hi Davec, Welcome to Cruise-Chat.
Talking to the Maitre'd is a good idea. The cruise director might have a few ideas too. If you want to make the beach the special spot to pop the big question, I have an idea. How about putting a note with the question written in a bottle and have someone stick it in the sand near the water. Picture this.... You pick up the bottle and discover there's a note in it. You take the note out, read it, look at her kind of puzzled, and say it's for you. Hand her the note that says "I LOVE YOU, WILL YOU MARRY ME?". Or, whatever a romatic would write.

I hope you liked my idea a little. Maybe it's too corn. Big Grin

Good idea SONNYV, it's just trying to pull it off is the tricky part. Every idea I try to do for an excursion is blocked by her! Lol

She knows I will propose soon (still waiting on the ring to be completed) but I want to surprise her still. I mentioned going on the Isla Pasion excursion because it sounded like it's a little more private and/or secluded and she says "let's just go to the public beach." Now that I have researched the Isla Pasion and it seems it's still got a long ways to recover from the hurricane and the ride there is long and uncomfortable.

We spend every second together we can, so going off to find a bottle and hide it will be a challenge if go that course. I am thinking of getting out of the cabin on some kind of errand and talking to the Maitre'd about it. Unless I decide to ask before we ever leave for Galveston...

We cruised on Ecstasy this July - during the talent show - a young man played and sang a song he had written for his girlfriend, then the cruise director brought her up on stage and he proposed. Not a dry eye in the place! (She accepted!)

Maybe you can contact someone at the public beach Paradise Beach. It was very nice when we were there in May. Actually is American owned, but I forgot the dude's name. Maybe you can email them and see if something could be worked out. Go to www.paradisecozumel.com. Good luck!
