I am not quite sure I know what you are referring to about what has been on TV. Unless it is about the Smith case. As with everything the media blows things out of proportion to boost their ratings. In 52 cruises I have never felt unsafe on a ship. When in port you always should use safety precautions just as you would in a new city here in the US. You should always be aware of your surrounding no matter where you are at. US or abroad. You don't flash money around, keep your wallet/purse close to you. Keep extra cash locked in the safe on the ship. Don't go in unlite places at night. Don't go with a taxi driver to an unknown private beach or location. With teenage girls and the Natalie Hollaway case I am sure you will brief them to use common sense, and not be going off alone to any cabins with anyone. Stay in public places. You should have a safe fun cruise just by following everyday safety precautions.

cruisin john,

obviuosly the Smith case has had a major impact on people's feelings as far as security onboard cruise ships is concerned. But in my humble opinion there is no reason to feel unsafe at all. I don't know of a single land-based hotel which offers the same high level of security that cruise ships do (probably excluding hotels in Iraq Roll Eyes). What can be dangerous onboard a cruise ship is if the passengers act inappropriately e.g. by balancing on railings or by trying to climb from one balcony to the other. But as long as passengers don't actively seek the danger, cruise ships are very, very safe. Smile

Best regards,

Raoul Fiebig

I have been on 35 cruises in the past 3 years and not once have i felt as though i was in any danger. However, as wth any unfamiliar area you should take caution and mind what you do. Other than that though, if you use common sense, you will have a very enjoyable experience. Any questions- Ryanspecialevent@msn.com

I agree that a cruise ship is almost as safe as a casino. You are always around many people. Teenagers will do very well because they have a club for them with many activities with people there own age. There is an arcade, there own night club, etc. My son doen't want to come. We have had many talks but still doen't want to come. What a fool! Sniff He would have a great time.Pizza 24 hrs a day alone should entise him.

maybe you should order the video from carnival that has your ship on it that shows all the excitment that is on board so he or she can see for them selves how much fun it is I know they use to offer the cassetts of each of its ships to view, maybe the idea of being on the water is a factor?
