I am going on a cruise in 20 days and was wondering if I would be under dressed with a Dress suit ( pants , & blazer) ? I have read where it is quite varied with the dress attire. 007Linda
Both of those responses are very true. The pictures are reasonably priced and very good. My wife usually wears a gown, but there are PLENTY of ladies in nice pants suit outfits or skirts. Boy...I feel like I'm auditioning for Queer Eye! The reality is that whatever makes you comfortable is ok...after all, it's YOUR vacation. Alot depends on if you're going to get alot of pictures taken and what you wanna look like. But most importantly, be yourself and be comfortable!
Rick...you're going way too fast for me...I can't get em that easy! The cruise lines are a bit hypocritical though...I wore a nice skirt with a halter top and they wouldn't let me in the dining room!! Musta clashed with my beard!
I remember wearing a maroon tie and cummerbund with my tux on the Norwegian Sea several years ago. It happened to be close to the color worn by the dining room staff and at least twice that night I got approached by passengers asking me questions. Rather than go through a big explanation I simply answered the questions and said thank you for cruising with us or something like that.
Back to Linda's question, you can get away with it if you dress it up with dressy evening jewelry (i.e. rhinestone necklace and earrings, or something like that.)
would be under dressed with a Dress suit ( pants , & blazer) ?
That is fine. Bear in mind we are talking Carnival here, and formal nights on Carnival tend to be more liberal as to the type of dress. Don't take that as a put-down of Carnival since I happen to think very highly of their cruises. It's just that what is acceptable on a formal night on Carnival is much different than what is acceptable on Holland America (as an example).
LisaP, The cruise is a 7 day one , (in 11 days!) Everyone thanks for all the info it was helpful! I ended up getting something a little dresser for the formal nights. So I won't be taking the pictures , lol 007Linda
The whole formal night dress code really worried me on my last (but soon to be not only) cruise. I really stressed myself out and, I really “angered” my husband trying to get prepared. After a ton of arguing, I finally got my flannel shirt and work boot wearing husband into a pair of khakis and button down shirt. I still thought he would stick out like a sore thumb, without a nice suit on. Well, he didn’t. Tons of men had on the same type of clothing. My $45.00 dress from fashion bug worked out well also. I really think so many of us worry too much about the little stuff; we forget we’re in it to have some fun. Just wear whatever you like. I’m sure a pants suit or a little dress will do just fine.
