I read your post on the Freeport vs Nassau. We are on the Fascination 3 day cruise which brings us to Nassau 8Red Faceoa.m and does not depart til 5:a.m. following morn. Ok so what do we do? I heard you cannot use facilities at Atlantis unless you have booked a room. We are looking for a nice beach then during the night we are looking for some good nightclubs, how safe is it to party with the locals? We are used to Mexico & the D.R. how does Nassau compare? We are 3 couples (30's Roll Eyes ) ok so maybe early 40's. Any suggestions MrOctober? Thanks, much appreciated

Ive been to Nassau 5 times and Traveling by myself I stick to my own routine for my own saftey. However I hear that Seinor Froggs is one happening place in Nassau. (walking distance) there is also a party boat excursion. as far as atlantis goes I just hit the beach nextdoor and when I go to Atlantis I just use the Casino. sorry Im not too much help. Nassau has alot to do right there within Walking Distance from the ship. I hope other's will chime in here and share as well.
It's not that I do not socialize with others ...lol..believe me I party with everyone.
Ive met a few long time friends on my Cruise's. But I enjoy traveling alone so I can do what I want when I want. It works out great for me.

And Being Single makes it even more fun.

Nassau is a fun place
Have a great cruise Smile
Michael

Thanks for your input. I did hear about Senior Frogs, now that you have mentioned it we will be sure to stop off there. It is good to know that there is alot to do in walking distance. Party boat sounds good as well but the 4 others we are travelling with have never cruised before and I have a feeling they will be looking forward to the land. We will definately go to the beach at the Atlantis and I'm sure we will visit the casino. I can't wait. Maybe one cruise we will run into you, sounds like you like to have fun....as we all do.
thanks again,
Leigh

The Yellow Bird Party Boat excursion is a blast. We did this in '04 and had a group of about 20 of us that went. You meet the tour guides around 1:00 in the afternoon, they take you to a lagoon about 15 minutes away..while traveling they give you a little history about the island. Also the rum punch is flowing freely. Once you get to the lagoon, you spend about 1-2 hours there, water is gorgeous and clear, you can also snorkle for a fee if you want or spend time walking around the little island area and exploring. The party begins on the way back to the ship. The caribbean band is playing, people are drinking the FREE rum punch an it is never ending and extremly strong...in fact I had to throw a couple of them overboard as they seemed to be straight rum. Great excursion and only around $30.00 per person. Since it doesnt leave until 1:00 you still have time to walk around Nassau and explore, and you will arrive back to the ship around 4:30 or so which gives you time to have your dinner and then go to Sr. Frogs.

Thanks for that information. Is it the Blue Lagoon that they take you to? I did read somewhere that Blue Lagoon was closed. Any pics you might want to share? Fell free to email me with them at enright@magma.ca (goes for anyone else who has some great shots they would like to share) I've been to many caribbean islands but never Nassau so anything would be great
Thanks Leigh

Does Mr. O have pics? Lol

He has tons posted. He is a pretty good photographer actually. I think he is heading out for his Birthday cruise Sunday.

Have not heard of Blue Lagoon being closed, they have changed around some things since my last visit though. I can't find my contact info. as I am at home. I do have a contact with one of the tour operators, but is on office computer. Here is a decent link with some phone numbers.

Hello IslandCruz
Thanks for the info. I notice that The Atlantis seems to be the hot spot to go, although I did hear that you had to have a room booked in order to use the pools etc. Can you suggest another spot where we would have beach and pool/bar access? I would assume that if you are on the beach at the Atlantis you are able to use restaurant/bar facilities? Also could you direct me to MrOctobers photos's. Thanks, kind of new to the cruise-chat.
PS have a great Halloween Cruise

Hi Leigh, I spent 6 months on my last ship in Nassau. Senor Frogs is ok and open until around midnight but my favourite place is Bambu and that is open until 4-5am. It is a fairly new club and extremely popular with crewmembers as it doesn't play the usual hip hop stuff everywhere else does, it is owned by some greek brothers and they play mostly european house music. Check it out, it's a funky little place and it's on your way back to the ship from Senor Frogs, upstairs on the right hand side. If you go in there and you see Jonny, one of the owners, tell him DJ Eddy from the Fantasy says hi Big Grin

Hi Leigh and DJ Eddy,

I went with some crew 2 years ago to a club called BUM something, it was a few blocks down from the pier.

The Beach Bar in front of Atlantis only does room charges for hotel guests. You cannot walk up from the beach to their pool area and bars without a wristband. To go into the hotel lobby and casino and shops you must enter from the front.

I still recomend Blue Lagoon, I have not been to any other beaches but the two. Since you are in port late you could do both. Here is a link to pics Mr. O posted awhile back I was kidding him about.

Thanks for the well wishes and same to you,

Thank you so much DJ Eddy, I am sure we will be checking out the Bambu on our way back sounds pretty cool. I will definately say hi to Jonny should I run into him. As well a thanks to IslandCruz for the Blue Lagoon suggestion, sounds like a nice spot, I am going to check it out online now to pull oup some pics if I can. From what I've seen & heard Bahama's sound like a pretty good spot to vacation. We are planning an all-inclusive in April 07, any suggestions for an all-incl. in Bahama's or is it just a nice port to visit?
Thanks you guys.
Leigh

Hey Thanks Just got home today. The Sensation was Sensational...I actually feel bad but I like it Better than The Fantasy (my fav ship). The sound system was 100 times better than the fantasy both outside as well as the Karaoke Lounge. The Color scheem was kind of a gay Purple. But It wasnt that Gaudy after a while.
Met some new friends Smile as well as a girl I met on Last years Birthday cruise. Her and her mom booked the same cruise again so it was nice to hang out with them again. I need a vacation now...My bar Tab was $340.00 for me alone Smile for 4 Days...The now serve Bud Light in 16 Ounce Blue Aluminum Tall can's for $4.50 at the Atrium bar and $5.18 tip included at the pool.. Thgats 16 Ounces for $5.00...Whe I was in NY in july I paid $6 or $7 each for just 12 Ounces ....the food wasnt that great But I just eat stuff I can pronounce anyway so no telling what I missed. Kids were very minimal for a change. One wedding one Family reunion. Lost $1600.00 in the casino but had fun loosing if you can figger that one out...Smileage range was over all mostly people in there 30's and fourties.
The seas were Great except for about a Half hour of day one then smooth sailing ya'd never know you were on a ship.

I need a nap
Thanks for the Birthday wishes Smile

oh Crap ....I forgot All about you Frown I ended up taking 4 Bud lights home with me...darn.... well dude you are in for a good time The ship's service is outstanding. Get a bucket of beer by the pool for $17.00 (4 16oz Beers). You have to check out the polo lounge if you want to catch up on any playoff scores then right next door is the karaoke...great job that guy does in there his name is Karl..tell him michael said hey from last week he will remember me Smile

from what I heard from others that got off the ship in freeport ..it still is worth just staying on the ship....in nassau the big thing was the party boat lot's of drunks stumbled around by the pool that night. I dont do rum.
if your single there was plenty of single people onboard I happen to run into a couple of freshly divorced ladies celebrating and of course I had an excuse to get a big ol hug being the Birthday boy..
the only prob I had with the ship was my shower gurgled and backed up each night.. had to keep the bathroom door closed plus it smelled a little like sewer but not as bad as the Fantasy did last year.
they have Bingo and a prize is a free cruise for 2 also fill out the survey card there's a free cruise up for grabs there as well.

the staff isnt as good looking as the Fantasy but they are the greatest in service.
the lil girl in the Casino from India was a blast..she kinda looked more japanees than indian...look for her she's fun..
