We are again seeing a thread about formal attire veering off into an endless debate about the pros and cons. The original poster asked what the code was for Carnival. This was answered. On Carnival, showing up on a formal night wearing a shirt and slacks is within the dress code. Wearing a skirt and blouse is within the dress code. You can do it up more if you wish, but if you are on a Carnival cruise now or in the future, you should not expect to see everyone in suits, ties, and gowns. If you want to do the tux and gown thing - fine. But don't criticize me when I show up in a dress shirt, slacks, and maybe a sport coat. I am in compliance, and that is the end of the story.

That is also the end of this thread. The original question was answered.
