My boyfriend was talking about taking a golf lesson while on the ship...do any of you know if this is offered on the Celebration. I found it on the carnival website but nothing specific to the Celebration.

Can't help you on that one Sunshine... Its been a long time since I have been on the Celebration. But you will most likely be too busy doing other things to have time for it. Its a short cruise and they try to pack a lot of stuff into it. You will need to pick your activities carefully because many things will overlay each other.

If you like cruising and go on a longer cruise, then go for it. The bigger ships have golf pros...(Conquest has a simulator)

5? Oh I thought it was a 3 day cruise. My bad. 5 days is not so bad. the 3 and 4 day cruises are a bit tight. They try to offer everything they would on a 7 day cruise to give a "taste" of everything, but it makes it impossible to do everything (not that we did not try). You end up more worn out then before your vacation started. BUT, 5 days is not a bad length. I'm just such a cruise pig that I hate the thought of anything less than a 7 day cruise.

But with a 5 day cruise there is the possibility that they will offer golf. They should (at least in 1995 they did) have a "driving net" set up. They may have a pro on board to offer lessons. If not, he can always get a couple of clubs and some balls to do some driving. Some cruises they do the whole "golf cruise" where the pro will take groups out to courses in the various ports. But I never felt the need to spend that kind of cash on golfing.

Sunshine, I am a golfer, run leagues, know the rules, and play more than once per week. I find the golf pro on the ships I meet not very good for lessons. I have met 3 so far, all young without much experience at teaching. I bet they all play a great round. The best use for the Ships golf pro is to set up a round of golf on shore. This was good. I wouldn't waste time on ship board lessons. BUT I have never cruised on the Celebration. Perhaps the more expeienced ship will also have an more experienced Golf Pro. Cool

Very well said CruiseDad. That is probably how I should have stated it. I think the golf pro's are just people looking for a gig on a cruise ship that have some golfing experience.

Have a good cruise sunshine. I think your cruise goes to Freeport. Don't expect a lot from Freeport. It's mostly a cab ride to a tourist trap of a shopping area. You may be best off finding a non shopping related excursion for Freeport or staying on the ship. Let us know how you liked it when you get back!

I agree with Cruise Dad, Amanda. Golf lessons at sea to me is the equivalent of sausage gravy without the biscuits.

Amanda, I agree with cruisedad on this one. My husband and I are both golfers. We've taken lessons on board a few ships. Not worth the time and/or money. We have learned more at home with our pro at the club. They are great in that they know the ins and outs of booking golf excursions and beautiful courses to golf at while in port.
BTW... I have yet to see a CCL ship without a golf pro (at least for 7 day cruises).

I am far from being a good golfer(high 80's- low 90's). Last year, I went into a funk and kept hooking the ball consistently. I could not get it fixed. While on the Glory, I went to the little golf introduction and putt-putt tournament. The pro, eventhough very young, saw my swing twice and told me what I was doing wrong. Mind you, this was not a lesson. I just told him what I was doing and he asked me to swing the club twice. Once I got home, I tried his advice and shot an 87 and could have been better but missed some easy putts. I have only taken one lesson in my life, but those 5 min. helped me out greatly.
