I have clients sailing on Carnival in AUg. They brought their own wine on board years ago (cruise line unknown) and want to do the same. Anyone tried it recently? What were the results? (I'm trying to discourage it.) Karen

I have done it numerous times. Pack it my suitcase and have never had a problem (Just make sure they pack a corkscrew as there is an uncorking fee on many ships). Curious why you are discouraging your clients?

Thanks, Nancy! I've been discouraging them because of stories I have heard of other people having their wine/liquor confiscated when doing the same thing. With the increased security now, I wondered if it would be more of a problem.

I'm also going in August (Destiny out of San Juan. The Carnival Web Site FAQ has the following question/answer: 'What are your alcohol and consumption policies: Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on bard the ship in the port of embarkation (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WINE and/or CHAMPAGNE)....

I've had friends that have smuggled alcohol on board in a Listerine bottle. They put green food coloring in for authencity.

Drinks are expensive onboard, so it was a good idea. Just make sure that if you try it that you wash the bottle really well. They ended up throwing away their alcohol because it tasted too much like Listerine!

The last few cruises we have been on have been stricter about alcohol than guns! Went on Royal Caribbean to Mexico last November where, in San Diego, piles of confiscated alcohol were next to security. If you put it in your suitcase, it will be screened these days. You would have to be clever to disguise it. May be more trouble than it is worth. If you buy it in port, they will hold it for you until you depart. Last time we were able to bring alcohol on board must have been about 7 yrs ago.
