Can anyone who has sailed on Victory tell me how many formal nights there are on a 5 day cruise? And how many dinner seatings are there? Thank you!

On a 5 day cruise there is one formal night and the Victory has 4 dinner seatings (usually 5:45, 6:30, 8:00 and 8:45).

On a Victory 7 night cruise there are 2 formal nights. Usually the second night onboard and the next to last night onboard.

I just got off the Victory a few hours ago, and on the 5 day cruise, there is one formal night, the Captain's Gala night, which is the 2nd night of the cruise. On a 7 day, there are usually two. And about the seatings....early-main was in the Pacific Dining room at 5:45, late-main was in the Atlantic Dining room at 6:15, the early-late seating was in the pacific at 8:00 and the late-late was in the atlantic at 8:30. How you had a wonderful cruise.

Please tell us more about the Victory when you have time and have rested.

We don't know our cabin # yet, but have booked an 8A guarn. with balcony I think that right.

So not sure which deck or location of the cabin yet.

I have read that the Victory is hard to find your way around and that the buffet is very,very crowded and long lines and cold food.

I like to play the slots some, do you or did you check out the casino?

Also we booked over a year in advance and ask for a table for two since we will be on our 35th annv. Not to be rude, but we would like to dine just the two of us on this cruise because of our annv. Did you see many tables for two?

If it doesn't work out for a table for two, oh well we want mind, cause we'll have all the time to ourselves in our cabin.

Hey,

I had a fantastic time on the cruise, as did the rest of my family. My father 50, my mother 45, me, 17, and my brother 13 all loved the ship. The ship is beautiful and very very clean. The crew is very very good, and the service was great. The only problem I had with service was at the Open-sitting dining in the dining room for breakfast and lunch. Service then was slow. Our Waiter at Dinner Rodolfo (early-main 5:45) was great, and so was his assistant Melanie. But service from Rodolfo was excellent, and Melanie always kept the glasses of water and ice tea, etc. always full. After the first night, Rodolfo remembered that my father (a large man) needs an armless chair in the dining room, and always had it at the table. Also later on, at dinner, the bar waiter who did our area of the dining room remembered that we all had soda cards and what we liked to drink (Ginger ale, diet coke, and 2 shirley temples), and he would bring them before we even asked.

We booked only 5 days ahead of time, and the rate was wonderful. We had 2 inside doubles 2291 and 2299 on Deck 2 Main. Not the best rooms we've had but what do you expect for only $2,000 for 4 people and 2 cabins?! haha....But yes your cabin is a balcony, although it may have an obstructed view, but I am not sure. But our cabins were very nice and very spacious with much ample storage and closet space.

Since I am not legally allowed to gamble in the casino I don't know from experience but I do know that my mom said there are no slots smaller than Quarters (no nickle slots) and there are table games (Blackjack, 3 card poker, caribbean stud, "Victory" 21, etc.) which my dad likes, and did come away $300 ahead.

The buffet worked for us when we actually went. We only really went to the buffet for the welcome aboard buffet and one day when we all did our own thing at sea. Other than that we went to the dining room. The buffet is a little crowded at times i guess as is the grill and wok and deli. The deli was excellent by the way, they had some great meat! My dad really liked the reuben. And you HAVE to try to the Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato (BLT) (#14 is the order number, haha) sandwich from room service…..it’s incredible!

When it comes to finding your way around, for me it was not difficult at all, except for some of the first day. But I got used to it quickly. You have over a year to study and memorize the floor plans, haha. Sometimes you have to go a floor or two up or down to get to your destination; like the pacific dining room from the front of the ship. But just stay on your cabin’s floor and you’ll be fine. If you want me to map out a few routes, no problem, just let me know.


There were a few tables that were for two, but they were right next to (almost attached) to long tables for 6-8. Sort of near a window, but this is all in the Pacific, because that is where we ate, so I don’t know about the Atlantic.

If you think of any more questions, don’t hesitate to ask…..that goes for everyone! Haha...

I really at this point think of much more to ask.

This will be our 3rd cruise on Carnival.

We went the year our son graduated from college and right before he married. We had promised ourselves a vacation after he got finished with college.

That was in the early 90's. We just got back in May from Grand Cayman and Cozumel on the Carnival Sensation.

For 50+ we had a ball. Had booked a demi suite with balcony and got upgrade 2 weeks before sailing to a full suite with larger balcony. We are spoiled with the balcony now.

Feel free to email us (tug1@charter.net) with any helpful tips about getting around the ship. No hurry since we will not be going until Sept. 2004.

Oh, by the way Hank I think that I have replied to other post you have made on other boards as well, just trying to learn all we can about the Victory and ports we will be visiting.

I read and learned so much before our May cruise on these boards that it saved us so much time and money.

The other thing i suggest is....is you are big soda drinkers, definately buy the soda cards. It was a great deal for us and was very useful.. We definately got the better deal of it and used it a lot everyday. Sometimes we would not even have to show the card, because the bartenders or waiters/waitresses would remember that we had the card. It was great. Still thinking of more to write....will try to come up with a full review for everyone....any more questions, just leave the love....
