Welcome to Cruise-Chat Mylo Smile

I am booked on Elation for my fist time, but have been on 4 of her sister ships, and consider it a good choice. I am looking for iteneray and price though and with a drive to port. If I was choosing just based on the ship would be the Spirit class ships for me. The Fantasy class ships like Elation have a good lay-out to them. If you are a first time cruiser is a perfect ship to start. If you like and most likely you will and be hooked, then go get yourself some "WOW" on a 7 day Conquest, Glory, Valor, Liberty or Freedom next time.

I agree with the last post. My first ever criuse was May 1994 on the Fasination. When I arrived at the port, I thought the Fasination and Imagination were huge. I had a great trip and really loved it. When I booked my next trip it was on the Glory, and once abord, my jaw dropped considering the size of that ship in comparison. My 3rd trip was supposed to be on the Imagination, but had to re-book on the Fasination due to Hurricane Wilma, The Glory really spoiled me and you notice how small the Fantasy class is in comparison. 4th trip Was on the Victory in April & I had a balcony stateroom, that was really nice.

The fatal flaw the the Holiday and Fantasy Class is that they don't have balcony staterooms. They are good ships, but the Naval Architects in that era did not consider that in their design. The Tropicale-Holiday-Fantasy class are evolutionary desendents of the original design.

I am thinking about trip number 5. I would like to try a Spirit Class ship myself, but I would like to go to an area that I havent been before. That might mean the Elation to Turks & Caicos, the Destiny to the Southern Caribbean, or even a Costa sister to the Spirit Class.

I would sail on a Fantasy Class ship again if the price and itinerary was right. It is a pity the Paradise is no longer 100% smoke free. I would have sailed on her in an instant if it still was .

The Elation was the last cruise I was on at the end of Jan 2006, I have been on the Sensation, Holiday, and elation so far, I really like the elation, while all the food is pretty much the same just little other things, biggest like I had, is the band that plays in the Jeckl and Hyde Bar(I liked the bar it is neat) but that band can't remember their name but they are philipino they are extremely GOOD worth Seeing A+++++++++++++ Best advice for first time just remember go and relax you have a few day so don't drive yourself crazy Its your vacation and since I did my first, to me its the only vacation to do, I've done vegas, cont u.s. traveling, nothing compares to my cruises. My next cruise is 5 days away ecstasy out of galveston sept 23 2006

The eight Fantasy class ships do have balcony's, it just isn't very many, only 54. The balcony's started big with the Destiny class.

Hello Cruise Fanatic, what I meant to say was that with the original Tropicale, then the Holiday, and finally the Fantasy Class, if you wanted a balcony you had to get a Cat 11 or Cat 12 suite. The Cat 8 balcony stateroom did not appear until the Destiny.

After seeing the Glory and having a Balcony stateroom on the Victory, I would prefer to have one again. But If I were to sail on a Fantasy class again, I would probably splurge and get a Cat 11.

PCGUY, I knew what you meant. The balconies were limited to verandah and suites with sometimes obstructed views. The regular staterooms have no balconies. I am impressed with your knowledge.

Here is a link to a neat screensaver showing the evolution of the ships.
