I can book either of these ships for next week. Conquest is currently listed $200/pp cheaper for an inside cabin. Both have basically same port stops. What would you suggest?

Thanks!

P.S. I was on Carnival about 20 years ago Smile
Wife has never cruised before.

After browsing the forums, It looks like both were pretty nice ships, so we decided to go with Conquest and spend the money on shore (or the casino!)..

Woo Hoo.. can't wait!

make sure you tell carnival you were a past guest - it doesn't mater if it was on the Mardi Gras, Carnivale, Festivale, or any other ship in the fleet, as a returning guest you are allowed to go to the past guest reception

I had the same dilemma myslef when I booked my last cruise with my wife - The Carnival Victory and Star Princess both had similar itineraries (princess had 1 extra stop in the Bahamas, Carnival had a day at sea).

The cost of the Victory + air from Toronto/Ft. Lauderdale was the same as the cruise only on the Star Princess. I booked the Victory, and a short time later the Star Princess had the fire and had to cancel the rest of the Caribbean cruise season - the rest of the Victory sold out in a matter of hours after the press release.

Friscoguy, You will love the Conquest! We sailed her in 2005 for a family reunion and had the time of our lives. She is a beauty! Great pizza 24 hrs a day and the kids loved the 24 hr self serve ice cream and yogurt.

They also had fun calling room service at night. They would bring them a plate of cookies and glasses of milk. My 16 yo grandson discovered Sushi on this cruise. He ate his weight in it. Entertainment was just OK though.

Went to Sunset Beach in Jamaica and had a wonderful day. All inclusive for $40.00 per person. All the drinks and food you want. Use of the beach, pools, swim up bar, water slides and water toys. Used Captian Marvins in Grand Caymen to swim snorkle and swim with the stingrays. Not sure I would do it now though with what happened to Steve. I am sure their business is down. We loved Cozamel but not sure how it is after last years hurricane. Heard the damage was pretty bad.

I hope you chose late seating. That was my biggest regret. Chose early because of the kids but by the time we would get back on the ship we usually only had 30 minutes to get ready for dinner. One night we were so tired we skipped it and had pizza on deck. Would have liked to had time for a nap before getting ready for dinner after being on shore.

We sailed Norwegein this year and discovered free style dining which we loved. Ate when WE wanted each night. Just did not get that personal service you get with the same wait staff every night. Have a GREAT Vacation!!!

Thanks for the info!
We signed up for 2nd of 4 seatings. Someone on the forum said it's pretty easy to change to a later seating if desired, but hard to go forward.
Yeah the sunset beach sounds good. We're waiting to hear back from Barnett Adventures first, if that falls through then we probably go the beach.
Not sure what the comment about Captain Marvin is about, but I want to dive and my wife will snorkel so we booked with Divers Down which does both.
I'm guessing when you say 'Free Style' dining, that means the general eating that are general eating times.

We're bringing our own snorkel/dive equipment. Do alot of the beaches have lockers? Not sure what to do with stuff when both in the water?

Tropical Depression Eight - Oh No!!!!!!

PC Guy said it right. Tell your Travel Agent or direct Carnival you are a past guest. If you don't have your number, which they did not do back then. They might can find it by your social.
It is a nice "invited only" affair with Hor- the thing I can't spell and free drinks, and a great talk about up comming ships. It will be on a formal night.

They use to leave personal invitations in the cabin for it, now they just post it and check the color of your S&S at the door. That is no problem though, just go to Info desk and tell them, they will give you an invitation.
