New to the cruise life...Was wondering if we made a mistake by switching from the RC(Mariner) going western Caribbean, dec 5, 04 to the Destiny going to the southern oct 31-nov7..Price was really good via a discount internet travel agency both for flight to san juan and for cruise. Have I again let money spoil a vacation for us ??? thanks for any help...

Yes my friend you have made a huge mistake. The Destiny looks nice...BUT..the service and cleanliness need some work. You really should rethink your choice....between RCCL and CCL there no comparison. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Depending on your budget and/or what you are looking for, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think it comes down to "you get what you pay for". I am sure there are higher class ships but We took the Destiny Jan. 11-18 with a total of 30 people and we all (ages 4-65) had a blast. Service was fine, food was good (not excellent but far from bad) and staff friendly. Good luck and enjoy!

My second cruise was on Destiny. We LOVED it. The only bad part was the stop in Guadalupe - awful, awful, awful place. That was Destiny's last stop there. Ship was great, entertainment was great, food was great, rest of the ports were great. You can relax and enjoy or you can nit pick and find things to complain about. Your choice. If you don't have a great time, it's not Carnivals fault.
Enjoy your trip. I'm jealous.

I AM A SINGLE WOMAN (AGE 44) GOING ON A CRUISE TO ARUBA ON THE DESTINY ON OCTOBER 10, 2004. I AM ACTUALLY LEAVING ON THE 9TH, TO SPEND A WHOLE DAY IN SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (PRE CRUISE). I AM GOING ALONE. THIS IS MY 4TH CRUISE. BUT, ONLY MY SECOND ONE ALONE. IF THERE IS ANYONE THAT HAS BEEN ON THAT CRUISE, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR SOME OF THE BEST HIGH LITES OF THE SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN ISLANDS. ST. THOMAS, ST. JOHN, MARTINIQUE, BARBADOS AND ARUBA. ALSO, IF THERE IS ANYONE THAT WILL BE ON THAT CRUISE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. MAYBE WE CAN MEET UP AND HAVE A DRINK WHEN WE BOARD. I LOVE CRUISES. AND GOING ALONE IS AWESOME. I ENJOY MEETING PEOPLE AND HAVING GREAT MEMORIES.
