I'm a non-US citizen, and wondered how long it will take to board? The last time I cruised the lines were very long

As long as you have a passport or other proper documentation (check with the cruiseline as to what you need) the boarding process should not take any longer than if you were a US citizen. But if your comment was to the long line in general, the wait time depends on a lot of things. My advise is to show up early. You will have to wait until they start boarding, but if you are near the front of the line, once they start you can be right on board. If you show up after they start boarding and after the line has formed you will most likely wait longer that if you just showed up an on or so before they are supposed to begin boarding.

Don't forget to complete our funpass information online before boarding...this may help things go smoother. I'm not an experienced cruiser (yet!)but I was impressed how fast the lines moved.

I am a Canadian Citizen and have travelled with Carnival 4 times now. In the post 9-11 world, it is a requirement to have a passport for all people who are entering/re-entering the US.

We clear US Customs before we even board the aircraft in Toronto, when we arrive in Miami, it is just like a USA domestic flight. As long as you have your passport and funpass filled out, you will be through the line like everyone else.

Yes,

Unless you are going to Alaska and maybe even then.. Get some "Heavy Duty" Sunscreen Smile

If you are light skinned the Sun in the Caribbean and Gulf will burn you fast and before you are aware. Red Face

Hey IslandCruz,
I might be getting a little off subject from the original post, but is the sun really stronger down there? I burn easily and I live in the south.

Hey Rhonda Gal,
Yes is stronger down there. I live in the south and at the beach too and burn easy also. If you are going to do any water activities, snorkel etc. I can reccomend "Bullfrog" brand sunscreen, it is the only one I have found that truly is waterproof.

Hey Nipper,

You can get online, or first port. Is now a common brand. I only reccomend things and places that I have tried. Bullfrog gets A++++

Thanks, Islandcruz. I'm planning on buying some other stuff in Miami before boarding - it's cheaper for summer gear.

I hope Jimmy Buffett has stock in whatever company makes "Bullfrog".

OK, this won't be a long "but true" story. I read JB's book "a pirate looks at fifty" He mentions it in the book, I don't know what he means by Bullfrog. I call the restaurant in Key West and get the accountant lady upstairs. I think she is blowing me off when I ask her to ask him. I call back about 5 days later and to surprize she says he said to tell me is really good sunscreen. Well, was hard to find 5 years ago, but as 2Roses posted even is at Wal-Mart now.

This is now way off topic, but if people read it and get some sunscreen of any brand to protect themselves will be a good thing Smile

Off topic, maybe, but helpful for a cruiser from Scotland. Better make sure I've got sun cream in case the lines are long, and I have to wait outside in the heat...

Nipper- If you are going to Miami to cruise, then the odds are you will end up waiting in line outside in th esun/heat for at least a short period of time. Bring your sunscreen. Or if you are coming in a day early, go buy some here. That might be easier. Waterproof sunscreen lotion will be easy to find in Miami.
