I should start by telling you all that I am in the cruise business. That doesn't make me smarter or more knowledgeable than anyone else, except that our network of agents work with hundreds of clients each year, and we go on multiple cruises each year. Why do I tell you this? Because when you see a post like the one that mentions Carnival has no class...the obvious questions come to mind. Was this their first cruise? Are they veterans of many cruises, many of which may have been on Holland America, or even Crystal or Seabourne cruise lines? How old are they? What did they expect from the cruise that their travel agent didn't tell them? Or, did they buy direct from Carnival Cruise Lines? (and therefore skip the knowledgeable agent?) I'm not knocking the person who posted, or the resulting replys. There is simply too much information missing to form a conclusion as to their reason for the posting. (also consider, was this a three or four night cruise vs. a seven night or longer, was it one of the older ships like the Holiday...or newer like the Pride etc.) I've seen just about everything in my 35 plus cruises, but one cruise certainly doesn't make or break the entire cruise line. I have my doubts about that post. It may have even been a competitor.
Have been following this topic for sometime, and finally decided to put in my point of view. EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion, whether it's a positive or negative. We have taken numerous cruises with various companies. I don't think it was posted with class, but I tend to agree with what the original post was trying to say. We have sailed Carnival on a few occasions ourselves, and never again, due to problems too numerous to mention. I don't work for a competitor as the previous post suggested. Please just let this whole issue die. It will just go on forever, and NOTHING good/constructive is coming from this, only bickering.
cruiserholic, have you seen these photos of the Conquest's interior decorating [and I use the term loosely]? http://www.claude.ocs.lsu.edu/conquesthideous!

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"!!!! I must be blind. Hideous, incredible, weird. You must click in to see these. Will certainly save you money on booking a cruise. Certainly not for the "older age group". Celebrity & Princess, here I come.

..some opinions whether negative, positive or mixed, are written with specific examples, and avoid broadbrushing something into an unrealisitic caricature. These opinions tend to receive more respect, even if there is desagreement, than do the ridiculous railings that characterize this original post.

Echoing Mitch and cruisefan - PLEASE let's let this topic die out!! I get tired of seeing this pop up every now & then. That's why there are so many different cruise lines - different strokes for different folks. Karen

Appreciate your comments Karen. Agree on the main subject, but very confused about Mitch's comments. Really not sure if he was talking about original post, or the Conquest pics. Have you gone into the site that tr cruiser referred to? I did, and copied them for a friend who has a cruise scheduled on Conquest, but no computer to see these pics. They are somewhat "far out", and not what you would expect a new ship to look like. They plan on talking to travel agent Monday. I picked up from a couple of other sites that Carnival might have to change port for Conquest, as it's too tall to get under wires crossing the river. Have you heard that, and what would they do with everyone that booked anticipating New Orleans? We had thought about that for an Xmas cruise, but glad we made other plans with friends.
I have heard a little about changing the port for Conquest, but it won't be immediate. Apparently the river tends to be higher in summer, so I doubt they would do much to change the winter routes. The problem is a high-power line strung across the river; it is supposed to hang higher than it does, but the elec co doesn't want to build new towers for it to accommodate just one ship. Stay tuned. In any case, if cruises are cancelled or the port of embarkation changed, the cruise lines are good at offering refunds and/or discounts on future cruises. As to your comments on the decor, I looked at one or two pictures on the website mentioned, and perhaps it's a bit over the top, but not out of line with Joe Farcus' designs for Carnival. Those to whom this decor does not appeal, consider other cruise lines! There is one for virtually every taste! Karen

Mitch, I assume you're referring to the ALL CAPS post that started this, but if your comment was directed at me, no offense taken. According to Carnival, these are "advance photos" intended to give TAs a sneak peak at the Conquest's new decor. They lack the quality of professional photos to be published later on Carnival's web site. They're only meant to give people a preview look.
As to whether these ridiculous railings are an unrealistic caricature - Well, no. I think the pictures speak for themselves. BTW, welcome to the board. We'll be glad to hear if you think the scheme is not hideous.

I refused to be a part of this madness any longer but we all (my group) are looking forward to our cruise on this ship early in January. Look for my "unbias' review when we get back! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and as we celebrate it this year, be glad that we can still afford to cruise anywhere.µ
If her fellow guests did not maintain proper dental health, how could that have affected the quality of her cruise?
At any rate it was certainly not the responsibility of the cruise line.
Perhaps she would have Crnival do a tooth check at the pier and disallow anyone with any teeth missing from boarding. I wonder if she is Ok with bridges and false teeth...
Anyway I have all my teeth and I love Carnival. I have cruised withthem 9 times and plan to continue to cruise with them.
Subject dead for a month and then picked up again. Appears someone just wants to keep stirring up trouble. I'd be more concerned about the 250+ people coming down with the "virus" on the last cruise, on a brand new ship, then with someone's comments about how people looked/acted. PLEASE, let's not see this topic ahead. The New Year is coming, let this one be a thing of the past.
Why do some people have to post strings like this. Carnival just cateres to a another type of vacationer than other cruise lines.
If you dont like Carnival, here is a simple cure. Just dont travel on their ships. No need for you to ruin other's vacations by making posts like this.
I have traveled almost every cruise line and I happen to like Carnival the best. And I do not travel with them for the cost. I am a professional with a upper six figure income. It is all about what kind of vacation you are looking for.
For those of you who have a booking with Carnival, and are scared because of posts like these, ignor them and enjoy your vacation.

I've been away for awhile, and just picked this up again. Let's start the New Year and DROP this subject. Some love Carnival. Personally, we hate it due to numerous problems we have had on 3 sailings. We're doing what normal people will do, DON'T TRAVEL IT AGAIN, EVER. Let the issue drop. We, as well as the previous post, are entitled to our opinions.

To all.... Let me tell you about our cruise last year over Thanksgiving on the Destiny. In short it was a nightmare from day one. The worst cruise out of 30 that we have ever taken. That ship was overrun by kids, the pools were filthy and smelled. The food was bad, and the rooms just plain sucked!!! Entertainment is certainly not family oriented and leaned towards profanity and nudity....try explaining a man humping another man on stage to your kids. All in all we will never step foot on another CCL cruise ship even if its free. This cruise line give a bad name to cruising.
I think Sue is the one who should stop, even if she is in possesion of a classy full set of teeth. And Ekatarina should realize, none of the carnies found her attractive either.
EVEN THOUGH, I DID NOT EXPERIENCE EKATARINA & CRUISINGBOYS2 DIFFERENCES IN PSYCHOGRAPHICS, I MUST AGREE THAT DUE TO DISHONEST ACTS & UNTRAINED STAFF, I UNLIKELY WILL TRAVEL CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES AGAIN.
There seems to be a conflict here. The cruise was over run by kids? Then you say try to explain the nudity to your kids? Apparently you took your kids. If this is the case why are you complaining about other people's kids? As far as nudity I think you are stretching it some. I have never seen anything more shown than what you would see on a beach or at the pool in any show on a cruise.
