I HAVE FIGURED OUT WHY IT'S CALLED CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES. BECAUSE THEY LITERALLY CATER TO THE "CARNIES". I HAVE NEVER SEEN MORE TOOTHLESS, DIRTY LOW CLASS PEOPLE OR ACCOMODATIONS IN MY LIFE. THAT WAS MY FIRST AND LAST EXPERIENCE WITH CARNIVAL. TALK ABOUT POOR EVERYTHING!! IT SUCKED.
I respect your right to your opinion about Carnival but I have not found that to be true about Carnival, I have sailed on that line 6 times, Rccl and Norwigian and I am convinced that a cruise is what you make of it. You never know what kind of people you are going to meet on a cruise and I have met wealthy, very professional, CEO's, interesting senior travelers like myself and students. When I go on a cruise, I am there to enjoy myself and experience the diversity and exciting things others have to offer, not to judge others! Believe me, "You can't always judge a book by its cover" I will be going on Carnival's newest ship "Conquest" with 24 other people in January of next year. These cruisers are coming from 5 different states and I put together this cruise early in this year. No, I am not a travel agent, I just love cruising. We are all looking forward to having a good time on the ship and with each other. Keep cruising and keep an "open mind"õ
I have read some of the reviews about Carnival and find them funny. To rate the quality of the people on a ship really shows more about the person writing the review, than about the ship. I have gone on 20 plus cruises on all lines and there have been good and bad ships on all. Just that a look at the government food inspection ratings on ships, they list Princess and Holland America had a major virus outbreak, as did Celebrity etc.. So all cruise lines have problems. I have found the Carnival Victory, Destiny and Legend to be fun, clean with numerous dining alternatives. So every ship line has good and bad days. But according to the government inspections Carnival is doing a good job.

We can certainly appreciate and respect your point of view, but accept ours in return. We are "well traveled", both on land and sea. We have sailed on American Hawaii when it was in business, and repeatedly on Princess & Celebrity. Have you done those? I think not or you would certainly understand how we feel. I/we know that you get your cruise paid for when you get a group together. I'm sure other people don't know that, quite possibly members of your own group. Contributing factor for liking Carnival?

Nick, Your reply was obviously being posted while I was writing mine. I just find it incredible that Carnival enthusiast's cannot accept our point of view (There's many of us). You appear to be the spouse or in cruiserholic's group. WHERE are you getting your information from that you stated about Carnival fairing better the the mentioned cruise lines as far as the health department was concerned? I could go on forever about the many problems that we, as well as others have faced on Carnival. Luckily, you haven't experienced it yet, but you will, sooner or later.

Some have obvously had a bad trip. Any ship can have a bad cruise. Because Carnival is a little less money you often see a younger and more casual crowd. The ships are comfortable and the food good. Do not judge a ship by the way some one dresses. Out of 2000 people and the vast amount of places on a ship we always find friends and a great place to hang out. We love Princess but have seen plenty of jerks and bores on that line too. On the Ocean last Feb the staff said the Christmas cruise was a disaster. There was a food fight in the dinning room among three tables. This does not mean Princess is any less in my mind. When you open your doors to two thousand people you can rest assured you are getting a cross section of humanity. All the major lines give good value and offer you every chance to have a fabulous trip. Our job is to relax and not eat too much. Enjoy the ride. Days at sea are the best in your life. Bill

First let me state out of the 6 cruises I have taken with Carnival, this is my first group cruise, so whether I get my cabin free does not change my opinion about Carnival or cruise ships in general. I could very well have gone on any other but I liked th e New Orleans port and the itinerary. We are not a part of any group or organization, just people by word of mouth who chose to go on this cruise, many who have gone on other lines or never sailed before.
Just a thought: Have you ever wondered why Carnival has the most ships out in the water and so many people sailing if they are so bad? Also 4 more new ships scheduled to come out in the next 2 years??
Enough is enough already. I feel that everyone is doing a real disservice to Ekaterina. She is entitled to her opinion, as I am, and you are. We are here to help people, and even though she didn't list her complaint as maybe one of us would do, all we are doing is being critical. Sure, nothing is perfect, but she has faced problems on Carnival, as well as many others, including myself. So what if Carnival had 100 ships? They have 17, RCL 15, Princess 11, & Celebrity 9. All are due to come out with new ships within the next few years. This does not take away from the fact that crew can be very rude, ship's can be and are very dirty, and just plain poorly run in some cases. I feel badly that Ekaterina has not answered back, and if she sees this, I do apologize for the bad manners of the other people that have answered your statement. As I said, you are entitled to your opinion, and other people, whether they agree or disagree, should not be critical of you so doing. If you do read this, I would appreciate you just saying that you read it. Again, my apologies. Sue

Sue I agree with you that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and has a right to state that opinion. It is also true that if you really want to look for it you can find problems with every cruise line, every ship and its employees or passengers. My problem is with the way a person states their opinion.
It is obvious this person thinks that all Carnies and toothless people have no class. They do not state what they think is class. I have met many people that have money dress well and are big shots in business yet they are very low class people due to their attitude and arrogance.
I have met many people of all walks of life that are great people and many that are what I would consider scum. To me being class is in the way a person carries themselves or acts towards others. Stating that the cruise line is low class because people on the cruise were all toothless carnies is not a class act to me. What did these people do that was not classy? Were they rude, were they spitting tobaco on the deck?
To just call people a name or the cruise line names and not really give an explanation of why you call them that name is low class and that is just my opinion. I am not trying to start an argument.
I wish you and the original poster all the best and that any cruise you take lives up to your standards.

Wow! All of those toothless people. My wife and I were in a similar situation. There were at least 25 toothless thugs. They were hollering, screaming, and some were drinking. They were throwing stuff and just carrying on. None of them wore a tux, suit, or even a sport coat, not even a shirt and tie. They did not even wear a collared shirt. They were wearing either a sweatshirt or a tee shirt. Almost every one of them was wearing a cap. The only time they took the cap off was to wave it in the air. Were these toothless thugs low class? I don't think so. The rest of the crowd of over 1 million did not think so either because we were all there for a victory parade in honor of these toothless Detroit Red Wings after they won the Stanley Cup. Come to think of it there was some talk about all of them taking a cruise together.

How much longer is this going to continue? Just listen to yourselves. You are completely off the subject of the poor person that wanted to express an opinion, and do it poorly. STOP IT AT THIS POINT

Just think about it. There are 25 players on a hockey team. One would go free. Maybe that is the reason the Dominator retired. He found out someone got a freebie. Or maybe he was the one that got the freebie and the rest of the team was mad at him about it.

I guess it is all very subjective and depends on your expectations. We've been on Carnival 3 times, RCL once. Was everything always up to "Rob's perfect world" standards? No. However,I've stayed in world class hotels which cost more for a night than Carnival charges for a week and had problems. Overall, I've had good food, friendly service, entertaining shows and a good vacation value. The beauty of it all is that there are other cruise lines to try. Keep cruising till you find one you love.
