Its the same IF it works. two weeks ago when we were on the Destiny they had a mishap with a bad batch of keys and just about everyone on the ship ended up with sign and sail cards that would not work as a room key...boy to have that many people standing at the pursurs desk was loads of fun. They gave us 2 free tickets for drinks which we needed after that.
It's the same as the sail & sign, as baby doll noted. I am glad they gave baby doll something for having to wait in line. Even when they don't make a mess up with the batch, the darn things can be difficult. I am glad too that they wised up several years ago and quit putting the cabin numbers on them!

Lucky you, I sailed Destiny the end of Feb and my room key stopped working and I got a new one, which also didn't work, so they did it again but warned me that my wife card would now not work, so I needed to track her down and get hers changed as well. Through it all they were very nice and smiling but I didn't get any drinks out of it. Perhaps I should have asked if they could compensate me for the trouble. I did get good exercise climbing to deck 8 and back.

There was a line around and looped through the lounge. I think if YOU had problems and we did and the ones after us then it wasn't just a bad batch of keys. You would think after one cruise they would have made sure the next ones coming on wouldn't have to deal with that. I take it all with a grain of salt, but not like some that were pretty hot spending their vacation in line for so long. Whats a little key mishap with the great line of islands to visit. I had the best time of any cruise I have been on of all 9 of them.
I take things like that in stride as well. Why get worked up over it and have a sour attitude that spoils your cruise is my thinking. I don't know if they have ever replaced the door readers on the Destiny. If not they are most likely worn out.
