just got off the Pride earlier this month for a 7 day and you know how that goes for us cruisers....get home and book one for next year so I booked March of 2008. I know its an older ship but have been dry docked and gone over in 2005 and that 75% of the passengers are Latino by which things are spoken twice in English and Spanish. I have no problem with this but it will be a change and don't want to be blind sided. Are you flying there? We are and thought we would come in a couple of days early to do the San Juan thing thus making it a longer vacation. I've been searching and found some hotels at a good price, but looking for the ones by the waterfront across from the piers. The Sheraon is but it is $225.00 a night which is a little steep for my budget. Thats about all I got right now.

We did this cruise in the spring of 2006. I would not stay in San Juan for to long. Other then the streets of Old San Juan and the beaches there is not much to do there. The spanish fort is really cool, and so is the rum factory however we did it all in a day and a half. Just some food for thought. We arrived in the city at around 2 am and I don't think that I would want to party there. If you do end up staying at a hotel right across from the port make sure to do the rum factory it is kind of cool. Take the ferry accross the bay for 0.50 and then it's 2.00 per person for the cab fare the rest of the way. Once you get to the factory every thing is free. You ever get a few drinks on the house. We stayed at the Best Western just outside of Old San Juan. It was nice there and compared to everything else it was much more afordable. To get to Old san Juan we just jumped on the bus for 0.50 and took a 15 min bus ride. From the hotel Old San Juan is the last stop so you can't miss it.

We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express which is just 5 miles from airport and 3 miles from the cruise terminal. We stopped here on our cruise last year on the Legend and liked it. We will be staying two nights so we will be able to visit the fort again and (the Coach outlet)revisit the old town. We are flying AA using airmiles so that saves a bit. My husband likes St Thomas so we are going to try and see it a bit more of it this cruise.

AS we will be there for two days before we sail I think I might try the rum factory but priority # 1 is the Coach shop.

I brought home a loverly little bag from that particular shop Wink

We cruised on the Destiny Feb 11th - 18 and had a wonderful time. We stayed at The Sheraton in Old San Juan for three nights prior to the cruise... $100 per night through priceline.

Well I am from Puerto Rico and believe me your losing a great opportunity if you only see San Juan If you are going to stay for a few days before your cruise maybe you should see “ el oeste” there are a few options instead of arriving in San Juan airport, go to Aguadilla airport instead then you can visit:
1. Crash boat bay a beautiful beach if you only want to relax or Jobos bay for surfing, there was even a world competition of surfing in that area because of there nice waves.
2. Also there a few hotels in the area like “El faro” and “ El Pedregal” I know they will be more that useful to make your arrangements in order to go for the Destiny in San Juan, so you see San Juan is only 2 hour from Aguadilla.
3. Here we have “ Las cascadas” water park , Aguadilla ICE skating, the Mayaguez ZOO, the beautiful Portacheli cathedral and more history than old san juan.
4. also you can play in the different casinos of the area
5. and we are by far less “trouble city” than San Juan no noise better restaurants and more

So If you need to know more just let me know
