Will be visiting Black Beard's Castle as part of a land excursion in St. Thomas USVI - Tour terminates at the castle, which I understand is perched up on a 200 ft hill overlooking the St. Thomas downtown shopping mecca. Tour invites you to take the charming panoramic descent via 150 +/- steps. Sounds great, however my wife has advanced arthritis and is not only minimally capable of such a feat, but even less enthusiastic about that option. Can anyone who has made the visit to same, please confirm the availablility of alternative transport from the Black Beard Castle pinnacle to the Shops below, via Local Bus, or taxi. Thank you in advance -

Hi Sailor, and welcome to cruise-chat.com.

I don't have an answer regarding the taxi... is this part of a ship's tour, or one you booked independently.

Also, check your private messages, as I have a quick question for you.

Happy cruising,
LisaP

LisaP, the tour is booked via carnival Land excursions. Description has it ending at Blackbeard,s Hill. The brochure states, then you can liesurely descend the "stairs" to the shopping mecca below.

You can just catch a cab from the castle. We went there on our own 2 years ago and took a cab. We walked down and caught a cab in town, but it would just be as easy to catch it at the castle. They are every where. I think the view is just stunning and the tour guides were excellent!

Wes & Les, Thanks for the St. Thomas Blackbeard -Castle taxi feedback. Appreciate your prompt reply. See by the 2 hr differential in time stamps you are in the Mountain Time zone. Hope your winter has been mild not wild. Well in either case a cure for same in another cruise. Bon Voyage. Smoothing sailing

We took this same tour last January and my mother has the same problems. We were able to get a cab very easily from the castle. You will have no problems.

Nice!!!
I was planning to take the same excursion and you just answer what I need
Also do you know how much $$$ will it cost?
My wife love the pirates of the Caribbean so I will like to try this tour but I was always afraid about getting back to the ship since I don't know anything about taxis on st. Thomas
