These articles were in the Bermuda Royal Gazette. It appears that they're conceding a few major points to attract the cruise ship visits once again back to Bermuda. I can remember not to long ago when they were very selective about the number of ships allowed, but now things have turned around & they're looking for the business.
There may be hope for more cruises direct from Florida someday. happy dance

The Bermuda Royal Gazette calls attention to the fact that the ports of Hamilton and St, George's can only handle the smaller ships (Less than 750ft) and that deepening or widening the entry channel is not ecologically practical. Most ships are longer and have limited berthing at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
HAL will begin sailing again from NYC in 2010 to Bermuda with 10 cruises in 2010 and a full season in 2011.
