Is Nassau a dock or tender? I also heard that Nassau is not that great . What can I exspect when I get off the ship ? Or should I just book a excursion . It does not take much to make me happy . I like every thing from fun filled excitement to just strolling around or shopping . when I'm on vacation every thing is fun . Thanks Mona
I DONT KNOW HOW LONG YOU BE THERE BUT POWERBOAT ADVENTURES GIVES YOU YOUR MONEYS WORTH. THE ATLANTIS RESORT BEACH IS ALSO BEAUTIFUL AND CLOSE TO THE DOCKS.
Nassau is a huge cruise port and there are several piers at the docks. My suggestion would be to get a cab on your own and take a short tour. The view from the water tower is really neat. Afterwards, you will definitely want to visit Atlantis. There are many boat tours at the harbour. We really enjoyed the Dolphin Encounter.

Thanks for your quick reply . We will be there From 12pm to 6pm . not very long . and I find sometimes it's nice to know If it's dock or tender that way you can use your time wisely Thanks again Mona Dock or Tender ?
The last time I was there we docked. I'd second the vote for Atlantis. There's a public beach right next door as well. If you have enough time, ask the cab driver to take you by the queen's staircase as well.
Every time I have been there, all the ships were at dock.

First welcome to cruise-chat. The ship will dock in Nassau. To my knowledge there was only one ship that could not dock there and that was the Norway aka Blue Lady. I likewise recommend a local tour with a taxi driver. The guy I recommend is a guy named Felix he's great and I have used him several times. I would recommend going to Atlantis on Paradise Island its great. The have a great aquarium and lots of neat artwork, etc. Felix will actually give you a tour of the area. I have been to Nassau alot and even though it does appear very third world you can have a lot of fun there. The biggest waste of money there are the horse and buggy rides. The queens staircase is great also and Felix takes you there also as well as the forts. Be sure to take a hat and sunscreen because the sun can be intense in Nassau. Have a great one.
The beach next to the pier is gross. We really tried to love it- the hotel there (Colonial Hilton??) seems so EASY... but the water was dirty and the whole scene was not great.
Here's what you do: jump on the BUS, yes, the public bus, and ride to the base of the bridge. Buses do not go over the bridge- but cabs do. I think it costs $1. Then walk over the bridge (nice picture taking opportunity) and then walk to Cabbage Beach. It's on the same island as Atlantis but without all the contrived hokiness and crowds of Atlantis. BEAUTIFUL, repeat, BEAUTIFUL beach. Surf can get rough, though, so watch yourself. bring H20, too.
Then take a cab back to the ship (there will be plenty waiting right at the beach) and jump over to the world's sketchiest, scariest, most claustrophobic but largest straw market.
Good luck!

Skip the straw market unless you want to go down rows and rows of vendors selling the same things, practically begging you to buy something, in an open air building where the only moving air is from an occasional fan. I never saw anything there you couldn't find in the sundry shop at one of the resorts!
We went to the Atlantis hotel and had a fabulous lunch and toured the Aquarium. It is about $50 a person, but if you like fish, it is way worth it! They have a 13 foot manta ray! Also, we went outside and watched them feed the rays and sharks. Check at the hotel, but I think you can help with that too. If you pay for the Aquarium tour, you can also use their pools and beaches which are lovely. The casino is also a must-see for the Dale Chiluly glass sculptures alone! Have fun!
I heard Atlantis stopped doing the tours. You may want to call first. You can still go into the hotel and casino. You still can see the aquarium in the hotel.
