We are visiting Ochos Rios, Jamaica in a couple weeks and would love some advise. I am researching the Dolphin touch vs. swim. I have read that in the Dolphin swim, you get in the water, but are not even allowed to touch the dolphins as they swim by. It is twice the price of the touch experience and I wonder if it is worth it. Do you get life perservers? Wondering also about taking pictures at each excursion.

We did our swim in Cozumel, it was awesome and definitely worth every cent. You get to touch them, they pull you, you get to kiss them, they swim around you so you can pet them. I think the Royal swim they will even push you out of the water. It is one of the most awesome experiences of my life. We puchased the video. Whenever I'm down, I pop that in and it makes me remember what an awesome experience that was. I would highly recommend the swim verses the encounter!

We did this in Cozumel. We did not book through the ship but directly through Discovery Cove, or Shoretrips.com, can't remember which. We had considerably fewer people in our "private" (8) group, vs. the group we saw arrive from our ship. This made for alot more contact with the animals. We were pushed, pulled, jumped over, kissed, and in general got a really great experience. If you are doing this is Cozumel it is a very short cab ride from the ship, cabs are reasonably priced, and easy to come by. The "Royal Swim" was the way to go. We heard many people on the ship discussing the other dolphin adventure options and saying they were a "rip off" that they hardly got to touch the animal, etc. Ours was worth every dime! We bought the video and took a couple rolls of film on the water camera. It stands out as one of the best excursions, ever!

We did the Dolphin Swim at Dolphin Cove in Jamaica. It was amazing. Lots of fun. With the swim you get to go into the water and swim out about 20 feet where the water is deep. Then the dolphina do different tricks, you get to touch them and get your picture taken with them. The encounter there is are docks about 2 feet under the water that you stand in and just touch the dolphins and look at them. I highly recommend like the others to do the swim.
