Looking for suggestions on how to spend time in Roatan. What is the best way to see the area?

It's a nice place to snorkel. Or were you looking to see it above water?

Hi webber, welcome to Cruise-Chat. We were in Roatan a few weeks ago. We did a great sail/snorkel through the ship. The water was clear and the coral and fish were really beautiful. The tour took up almost our entire time at the port, but to get to the catamaran, we had to take a van a good ways. There wasn't much to see. There is a shopping area right near where you dock/tender. We had to tender since a Royal Caribbean ship beat us to the birth. It is definitely a place I'd like to go back to, but I like places that haven't become "Americanized", in other words, it is still undeveloped. Hope you have a marvelous cruise and once again, welcome on board!

I WENT TO ROATAN LAST MARCH 2007 AND WE HIRED A CAR AND DRIVER FOR THE DAY. Our driver was called Ben and he spoke extremely good English. Victor met us himself as soon as we got off the ship and he took us to his driver, we arranged with the driver what it is we wanted to do whilst on the island. It cost us $80 and for that he took us to see an iguana farm ($5 each) a tour around the island; he took us to the 'Lighthouse' restaurant on the waters edge for lunch ($30 for two meals and drinks)he showed us some fantastic scenery so that we could take some memorable photographs before visiting the beach. However, the beach was so overcrowded because it was the locals celebration day and the world and his wife spent it on the beach, making our time there rather short.
