Hi, I'm finially going on only my second cruise ever out of Jacksonville in Nov 2004. The cruise stops in Freeport and Nassau and wanted to get your suggestions on the best shore excursions, sights to see etc. From what I have been reading on the internet, newgroups etc Freeport does not offer a whole lot and not highly rated as a port of call. I want to take advantage of being in a port I've never been to and don't want to stay on the ship, so I would welcome any suggestions you may have.
Jeff, Freeport is great! It probably has the friendliest people in the entire Caribbean and they are reason enough to visit Freeport. Definitely get off the ship and enjoy it.
You can find lots of information (including other passenger reviews) at our sister site www.PortReviews.com. Here are links to the ports you are visiting.
Well, Freeport is not one of my favorite ports, but it can make for a great beach day. I would grab a cab and head straight for Xanadu Beach or Lucayan Beach next door. The beach is really quite nice and there are water sports available for rental. Some nice shopping can be found in the Lucayan Beach area also. If there are any "die- hard" shoppers spend a little time at the International Market. Nancy
