Trunk Bay is on the Island of St. John. You'll have to take a 45 minute ferry ride to get there.

As Sonny noted it is on St. John. It is located in the U.S. Virgin Islands National Park. One of my favorite places. Smile

Here is a map link.

Sonny should have added that the ferry ride is from St Thomas. If your cruise is going their and you are interested in instructions on how to get to Trunk bay without booking the ships tours, let me know. (Or just search the forum for trunk bay and you should find instructions posted in here somewhere)

If you leave from Charolette Amalie (Havensight) it's about 45 minutes by ferry. If you take a cab to Red Hook, it's about 20 minutes by ferry. The ferry leaves from Red Hook every hour, the one downtown has a different schedule, I think it's every 1 1/2 or 2 hours. The cab fare to Red Hook is about $20/pp each way and can take you anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. There is 1 two lane road to/from Red Hook and if there's a problem with traffic, it backs up quickly and takes a long time to clear up. It is well worth the effort to get to Trunk Bay. Scott Taylor took a catamaran sail/snorkel tour to Honeymoon Bay that he said was wonderful. It's near Trunk Bay. I believe they even offer excursions to Trunk Bay through the ships. We do Trunk Bay on our own because we are comfortable with getting to/from. If you would feel better doing it through the ship the first time, it probably won't cost much more in the long run. We do it on our own mainly because we can spend the amount of time we want to. Sometimes we stay for hours, sometimes we leave earlier. Best wishes!
