Hi all,

Based on such positive reviews of Reggie for his cave tubing experience in Belize, I paid a deposit for 4 people to go tubing last week. However, our ship was very slow in tendering people out, and when we got off the ship (after waiting 2 hours in line), Reggie was gone. We even had an email from him saying he would wait for us if we paid the deposit. We tried calling him several times, but no one answered. My husband is trying to get the $60 back, but I don't know if Reggie is willing. We were still able to go cave tubing, but had to pay someone else, and rushed through it. While tubing, we ran into Reggie, who only said that his wife was waiting for us. We don't believe it because we kept asking for Reggie when we arrived at the port, and if his wife was there, she would have seen us looking for him. All the locals knew Reggie, and even tried themselves to call him for us. We ended up having a taxi driver take us to the same place Reggie goes, and then to our suprise, the taxi driver went cave tubing too.

Am I the only one who had problems with Reggie?

I am truly sorry to hear you had a problem with Reggie's Tours. Not much to say other than I've not encountered any complaints about his tours before.

BTW, your second cruise clock doesn't appear to be BB Code hence it isn't working.

Hi MamaofEns,

That's too bad about Reggie's tours. We used him on March 11th and had the same 2 hour wait for tender as well. We didn't think anyone would still be there waiting, but he had a lovely young man, Jemiah, waiting for us and called us by name as we exited terminal 1 and walked toward the lighthouse. We had an excellent tour as Jemiah took just the two of us, so we had a private guide. He was knowledgeable and very personable - also very physically fit and kept us from hitting up against the cave walls too.
It was the highlight of our trip and I'm so sad to hear of your experience.

I am sorry to hear of this as well. I have never used Reggie's tours yet. However, I have had several recommendations from people that I know are reliable about giving advice. It sounds like this is more of an issue with the ship and their tendering process.

When booking an outside excursion it is a good idea to find out the details about their policies for late and no shows. It costs them money to accept deposits and then wait on people that don't show up at the required time.

I have always heard good things about Reggie's.

It seems exceptionally long to take two hours to get off the ship. Where there high wind & waves that caused it?

We have contacted Reggie since we came back, and he says that we neglected to call the other phone numbers (we did try them), and that he did have someone waiting for us at the lighthouse. We did head towards the lighthouse, but could see that his bus was already gone. We also stood there waiting for about 10 minutes or more, so I'm not sure how the person waiting for us could have missed us. So far, Reggie does not seem willing to give us our refund back.

It was windy, and there were already many cruise ships that arrived before ours, so we had a fleet of small tenders that took passengers ashore. That was one of the problems I had with NCL, we were always the last ship to arrive at port, and the first to leave.

That is truly surprising. I had a great experience with Reggie, so I am shocked that he is unwilling to return your deposit. He has never gotten anything other than good reports from other members of cruise chat. There seems to be a miscommunication problem here.

My best advice for future reference is to go to the designated pick up place. They know the ship was late, and your name is on the list. They will often send other transportation to check for late arrivals for the tour.

It may be one of those things to chalk up to experience. I have a few chalked up over the years myself. You really can't blame them for not refunding the deposit. They were out the full price of the tour that they could have sold.

Though we do not allow advertising on Cruise-Chat, I can't help but defend this tour operator in some aspects, due to the positive feedback I have read. I am truly sorry this happened, I still plan to use his tour though.

Yes, I believe I have learned from this experience. Unfortunately, I did not bring all the paperwork with me on the cruise, with the latest directions on how to reach Reggie. Despite that, I was able to go where he said he would be, thanks to the locals. So, my best advice is to read the directions carefully, and bring them with you. The cave tubing experience is amazing, and wouldn't want anyone to miss it.
