On our recent Sun Princess southern cruise, we had planned on going to Rex Halycon Cove on Dickerson Bay. It is part of the Rex Hotel chain and is situated amidst several acres of tropical gardens, with a long stretch of white sandy beach, on Dickerson Bay. It is breathtaking, a true tropical paradise. We went there on one of our first cruises to Antigua and had enjoyed it immensely. Being it’s a private, classy resort, I e-mailed them to make sure they didn’t change their policy. They wired back and said we were welcome. Unfortunately, Mary came down with a sore throat and we couldn’t make it. If you’re beach people, give yourself a treat and go to the Rex Halycon Cove on Dickerson Bay, it could be the highlight of your cruise.

Tom & Mary, Thanks for the tip! Do they charge a fee for a "day pass" and did you need to make any kind of advance arrangements to visit? I will definitely check it out on my next visit. Nancy
When we knew we were going to Antigua, I send and e-mail to the Rex resort to see if it was still all right to use their beach facility. They immediatlty replied and said it was OK. You don't need a pass of any kind. If I remeber correctly, I believe the taxi was an $8 fare. It's much prettier than Megans Bay in St. Thomas.

Thanks. I have been to Dickerson Bay and agree, it is a beautiful beach! However, I have not had the pleasure of checking out the Rex Hotel property. Will certainly do so on my next Southern Carib. cruise. (As the weather is getting cold here in Cleveland - I hope it is sooner than later). Nancy Nancy
