I'm going to Port Canaveral and three Bahamas ports - Great Stirrup Cay, Nassau, Grand Bahama Island - on the Gem in March. Any suggestions on things to do? Any recommended shore excursions or anything we could do on our own?

Thanks!

Great Stirrup Cay is their private island, beautiful beach, lots of water toys, good bar-b-que. Nassau, take a cab to Atlantis, there is a public beach adjacent to the property. Freeport something in Lucaya should be nice. Best wishes and have a great cruise!

Penny's suggestion for Nassau is great. The beach she is referring to is called Cabbage Beach. You'll find parisailing and jet-skiing there. If you walk east on the beach (away from the Atlantis) about a mile, the beach turns north and a small rock breaker goes our to the west; you'll find it a good place to snorkel.

Ooh, sounds good. Gotta give that snorkeling gear we bought last year a workout! (And I trust your snorkeling advice, Sonny, because if I'm not mistaken, you were the one who directed me to Coki in St. Thomas, and that was amazing!) Is it best to ask a cabbie to take us to Atlantis, or should we say Cabbage Beach? Do you happen to remember how much the cab ride was?

Thanks, guys!

Any other suggestions are welcomed! Smile

Cortney,

It is best to ask the cabbie to take you direct to Cabbage Beach. They have a drop off and pick stop there. It is very easy. We went last October and I think it was like $3 per person but not sure.

You can rent a beach chair for $10 a day or 2 for $15. Also they had a great deal on rum punch that was served out of a real coconut. It was $10 for all you could drink. Do this after you snorkel. Smile

Cabbage Beach is next to Atlantis. Make sure you see the aquarium in the Atlantis.

You can purchase them inside the casino at the ticket booth. I don't know the current prices.

The aquarium I showed on the picture is a free area, which is awesome. The tour, which you paid for, is only for hotel guests. They discontinued selling tickets to the public as far as I know.

As far as I know, Day visitors can still purchase tickets in the casino. Smile
