I am a travel agent, and from time to time I get requests from singles and parents without partners asking me if I can get them a roommate, as they are (reasonably) reluctant to pay the single supplement.

please note that these boards are not intended to serve as a platform for travel offers - or "ads" as some users might call them.
You are very welcome to jump in if somebody seeks advice and you can assist, but if we allow travel offers for singles, we will have to allow all other kinds of offers, as well.
However, many members have told us that they enjoy the atmosphere here particularly because these are boards where nobody tries to sell something.
I apologize...I had no idea that I was violating the guidelines of this board. I posted my message in an attempt to assist a gal who was looking for a cabinmate for a group cruise. May she post directly withough being a member of any special organization?
Shirley, Cruise-chat is a consumer board and anyone is most welcome to join the community. If she is interested in locating a roommate, certainly suggest that she register and then post her request. Nancy
no need to apologize. I can only second what Nancy said - she is most definitely welcome to post her request here. Anybody is welcome to join Cruise-Chat.com.
The difference whether the posting comes from you or her might be a small one, but because of the sad fact that some (read: very few) travel agents abuse boards for (sometimes aggressively) generating business, some users react almost "allergic" to anything that sounds like an "ad" - and I do understand their point in a way.
I am particularly glad that this very board has created an environment in which both consumers and travel agents can participate and do so very well and in a very friendly and cooperative way.
