We have a 5 a.m return to port and a 9 a.m. flight out of Barcelona. Are we (6) going to have a problem? How is transportation at dock to airport? Leaving 11/23

Hi pawlaw, and welcome to Cruise Chat.

The Century is scheduled to arrive back into Barcelona at 5am, but that's not the time the passengers can disembark. The ship has to clear Customs and go through other formalities before passengers are allowed off the ship. Disembarkation usually starts a couple of hours later.

Celebrity recommends 10am as the earliest flight departure time out of Barcelona. I suggest you talk to someone at the Purser's Desk when you get onboard, and let them know of your early flight departure time, so they can include you in the first group of passengers allowed off the ship.

On an international flight where you not only have to clear customs at the pier but also at the airport before your flight, you really need to change your flight if at all possibe. They will not allow anyone to disembark prior to 7:00am when the process is in place. There are occasionally delays as well. If you were the first passenger off the ship, which is not going to be likely, you'd still be cutting things way too close.

Sandy gives very good advice about seeing the Purser with a copy of your flight itin in hand for them. But only if there is no way to change your flight at this point. Even if you have travel insurance you're not covered. They require that you follow the cruiseline flight guidelines in order to cover such claims.

Cheers, Neil

We just returned from our century cruise to the Mediterranean. We stayed in Barcelona for 2 days after the cruise so we were last to disembarke. We were off the ship by 8:30am but a flight at 10 am probably won't work. The taxis are waiting for everyone outside but they are organized by the port police and getting in one took about 40 minutes. Then there is the traffic to the airport, etc. No, you definitely need a later flight.
