Nancy and I dined at Murano (the Century’s alternative restaurant) and had a fabulous meal. Having dined at the specialty restaurants on the Millennium class with varying degrees of satisfaction, Murano is a don’t-miss experience. It offers the same menu and promise of service its sister restaurants, but delivers in every way. I had the Russian salad and Scallop/lobster dish with Asian noodles and Nancy had the Scampi (prepared right at the table) the meal was memorable!

The weather so far has been downright HOT! This comes as a complete bonus as the forcast before the cruise was for rain. The ports are some of the best cruise ports that there are in the world in my opinion.

The house white wine is simply OK, but they pour Le Creama Chardonnay for about $9.00 a glass, including gratuity. I will give you the name of an exceptional waitress and she guarantees a great pour...VBG.

Bottles of wine at dinner are in the $30 range for table wines on up. Drink prices are comparable.

Never done Celebrity before so looking forward to it

geordie, you are going to love this ship. Be sure to try Murano early in the cruise so that if you like it, you can dine there several times. It is excellent.

I'm really looking forward to a full review on the ship. Adding balconies, suites, and spas may be good for business, but not necessarily for passengers since public deck space is often sacrificed. Am glad to hear about Murano though.
I'd like to know how much of the $55m went to stateroom and public space improvement.

Just got home from our Century cruise and can tell you that it is apparent that much of the $55 million was spent on public space and all staterooms. The only noticeable former public space that has been utilized for additonal suites, was the removal of the upper level of the Islands Cafe and the tiny Video/Arcade room adjacent to it.

All staterooms have been refurbished with new bedding (premium mattresses, Egyptian cotton linens, super comfy Euro pillows, new bed throws and shams), flat screen TVs and wireless internet access (which BTW turned out to be relatively fast) in every stateroom, and all bathrooms have enhanced lighting, new surface mounted sinks, chrome fixtures and new shower curtains that do NOT cling to your body.

Interestingly, they enlarged the casino by enclosing the balcony level above Rendezvous Square and removing the Wine and Champagne Bars that resided on those balconies. The only public space that they changed in my opinion that is not for the better is the complete overhaul in the Aqua Spa (Oh, did I miss my T-pool).

Welcome back Nancy, glad you and tom enjoyed the Baltic cruise, i can't wait for your reviews, they've always been very helpful since i'm doing a similar cruise next june 2007. I heard that the ship will depart from Rotterdam instead of amsterdam. Since we're staying in Amsterdam precruise, how do we get to Rotterdam. I'm not quite familiar w the transportation system. Should i just book the cruiseline's overpriced transportation services. Do they have trains, private shuttle etc, just a minor concern.. Angel

I heard that is very expensive, but nobody told me how much. Thanks!

It is also my undeerstanding that the ship will be departing from Rotterdam, but cannot answer the transportation question. Perhaps Tom, or another cruise-chatter will be able to provide an answer.

The cost for Muranos was a hefty $30 per person (but in this case - worth it). They also have an additional full 4 course meal that includes a wine paired to each course for $130 pp.

Going on the 13 day Repositioning cruise on the Century from Barcelona to Miami Oct 27 to Nov. 9. What weather can I expect on the Atlantic ?Still able to enjoy the outdoor pool ? Is there a enclosed one too? How would the Century compare to the Coral Princess which I took on a repositioning cruise last fall from Vancouver via the Panama Cancal to Fort Lauderdale ?
