We are looking at an Hawaii cruise next year with Celebrity on the Infinity but have heard that there are not usually many children on board. Our son is 8 and it would be good if there were others to make friends with at the kids club. What is the kids club like?

The number of children aboard depends a lot on the time of year. When were you planning to take the cruise?

We're looking at April 07 in the Easter holiday.

Okay, I just looked and so you have a choice of April 8 or 22. And it is a 14-day cruise.

The rule of thumb is that the longer the cruise is, the fewer children will be aboard. Most people with kids cannot find the time to take a 14-day cruise. And April is pretty much still school time for most schools in the U.S.

I'd have to say your son may be in a distinct minority on this cruise.

Easter is April 8th next year. So there would be more families on break at that time. But as Dave says a 14 day cruise will have very few.

We cruised on the Constellation on the week BEFORE Christmas in 2004 - actually took our kids out of school a few days to do it because it was a great bargain.

There were only a few children on board, but the Kid's Program was FANTASTIC. They had the greatest time, and got to know the counsellors really well. (In fact, their two primary counsellors were also dancers in the show, and the kids had a total thrill going to the night show and rooting for their dancing counsellors).

We've cruised on other ships with lots of kids, and our kids have had a great time too... Bottom line - don't worry - the kids' programs are GREAT and they'll have a FANTASTIC time.

By the way, my two girls were 7 and 9 at the time of the Constellation pre-Christmas cruise.

We returned a month ago from a Celebrity Constellation cruise to the Baltics. My niece who is 5.5 joined the kids club. We couldnt get her away from it. Our cruise was 14 days, and even mornings when we left early, we took her there in her pj's sleeping, and she stayed there till closeing at 10pm. They were awesome, even had veggie trays brought to them. I am sure Infinity would be identical.

We are going on the sumit-Hawaii cruise next year 2007 with Celebrity. I have also heard that there are not usually many children on board and that the people are older. We are taking our kids 11,14,16,18. Iam not sure how the kids club will be but it should be fine for younger kids. Kids will find a way to have fun.

The Summit (and the other Millennium-class ships) have a teen center too. On the Constellation, it's housed in a glass-enclosed, two-storey structure, with a "hang out" area and a dance/activities area... looks like a nice place for older kids to hang out (though my kids are younger, and so I don't know the particulars). Even on our "off-season" (e.g. middle of the school year) cruises, I've noticed a number of teens hanging out in the teen center... so I hope things work out well for them!!
