My friend & I from England are travelling on the Infinty from Seattle to Alaska on 9th May, we are travelling concierge class. We would be interested in some tips on the desired dress especially on formal nights - do we require long evening dresses or is a cocktail dress sufficient. Also we would be interested in hearing about more about the Infinity experience.
You'll have a wonderful time on Infinity. There will be two "formal" nights where cocktail attire is perfect. Leave the long ball gowns home. On the other nights, a nice dress, pants outfit or skirt will work. Think of it as "going out to a restaurant" type clothing.
For Alaska itself, take clothing you can layer, with a warm, water repellent outermost layer. And take a hat and gloves. You'll want to be out on deck while cruising, observing the gorgeous scenery, and it can be cold, especially when cruising near a glacier. Take binoculars if you have space for them.
Infinity is a wonderful ship with great food and service. Concierge Class will get you fresh flowers and fresh fruit in your room, as well as other nice touches and amenities.
We have done both Alaska cruises on Infinity, one 7 day from Vancouver and a 12 day round trip from San Francisco. Cocktail dresses are fine, but I did notice and so felt comfortable in my nice palazzo slax with 2 different sparkly tops. Less to pack. consierge is nice, but won't do it again, rather save the extra money for extras!
