Top premium line's highly rated "Summit" first to be deployed in 2006
MIAMI January 20, 2005 Vividly illustrating its commitment to offering exotic travel experiences in faraway lands, Celebrity Cruises today announced plans to sail in the Far East and South Pacific in 2006.
The 1,950-guest Summit, ranked first in service and second overall in CondE Nast Traveler's Best Cruise Ships in the World survey, will be deployed to Asia and the Pacific, offering cruises in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam, and other destinations.
This is a natural evolution for Celebrity, coming on the heels of our launch of Celebrity Xpeditions in the Galapagos Islands, our tripling of capacity in Europe over the past two years, and our deployment of new hardware in South America, said Celebrity's President & COO Jack Williams. ?Our guests and travel partners told us they want to experience Asia with Celebrity, and now they can.
While specific itineraries are still being developed, Celebrity envisions a series of round-trip and open-jaw cruises of varying lengths. The line expects bookings for its new Asia-Pacific product to open by April 2005.
Celebrity Cruises is the industry's highest rated premium cruise brand with a taste of luxury. The cruise line has 10 ships in its fleet, which sails in Alaska, Bermuda, California, the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, the Mexican Riviera, the Panama Canal and South America. In addition, Celebrity Xpeditions offer exotic travel experiences in the Galapagos Islands, the Arctic, and Antarctica. For more information, call your travel agent.

Tom Does Celebrity have any new ships in the works? I am curious because that is our favorite line and it seems like they are leaving the carribean area a little under covered in the spring and summer. They are taking the Century to Europe in the spring with nothing to replace it.We like to be able to take a cruise on short notice and with all thier ships gone in the spring and summer it won't be easy.Just curios as to anything new to fill the void. Oh man, I don't know....but I will find out. It is my impression that both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are looking to higher yielding itinerarys and passenger loads, rather than market share. I will let you know what I find out.

Thomas, I realize you asked this question of Tom, but I know that Celebrity has no plans for building any new ships, at least through 2007. The only activity from the RCCL camp is the "Ultra-Voyager" at this time. Nancy
Tom and Nancy Thanks for the input. We really like Celebrity the best of all we have been on. We have not tried R C, but now that we can use our Captains Club Membership over there we might give it a try. Thanks again for the info. Tom
