Hi everyone. In the Jan/Feb issue of Cruise Travel, it lists Celebrity Summit as repositioning and starting 7-day Bermuda cruises out of Bayonne, NJ in April 2010. This sounds perfect for me, since I hate to fly and prefer to drive to the East Coast from Michigan to hop on board. Wink However, as of yesterday, this itinerary was not showing up on Celebrity's Web site. Anyone know anything more about this?

Thanks!

They are probably still finalizing things, but it is going to happen according to this Celebrity Press Release from November.

Thanks, Dave! Have you been on Summit? I'm curious how it is. Never been on Celebrity before.

Courtney,
I did the Summit in Alaska. It is a Millennium class ship. It's a nice ship. I did Bermuda on the Celebrity Zenith back in 2005 out of Bayonne. At the time I also drove from Michigan. The Zenith is(was) a much smaller ship and we were able to go to all three of the ports in Bermuda. I don't think the Summit will be able to go to St George's. There's a nice hop on/hop off bus system in Bermuda. You can take the bus there. They have an old town dunking re-inactment there. I liked Bermuda a lot.

Hi Cort. HAL recently opened its bookings for Bermuda 2010, so I doubt Celebrity will lag too far behind. I suspect they may have to work out some final details.

I've been to Bermuda four times, and loved them all. It's very easy to get around on your own, as they have an excellent bus and ferry system. There is also a lot to see and do. Even after four visits, there's more on our list.

I was on one of Summit's sister ships, Infinity, and she had a great layout and nice public rooms. As Cruise Fanatic says, the ship's size won't allow her to fit into St. George's Harbor, but you can always visit the town by bus and ferry from wherever you dock.

Happy cruising!
LisaP

Looking forward to: Norwegian Dawn, Bermuda, August 2011

Great, thanks, guys! We had been eyeing Carnival Pride out of Baltimore for 2010, but we've already done Carnival twice and have really wanted to try Celebrity. Plus, since we haven't been to Bermuda, we thought it would be something different.

Thanks again!

We just got off the the Solstice and when we were on board we went to the desk for new bookings and she had not heard of the Summit going to Bermuda but told us that the news release gets out before they get the infor so she than told us it would be March or April to start to book. We wanted to get onboard credits of course so we had to purchase a pre-booking so we could get the credits when they release it. Love Bermuda, not so much the port it leaves from, but it is close to drive too!

When I first started reading your post, janfred, I was afraid you were going to say that the woman on Solstice had said it was a mistake. Whew, glad to hear the web site might just be behind. I've got my hopes up on this one. Of course, with the economy, who knows if it will even become a reality for us, but it seems like the perfect opportunity, and we love the Wyndham Garden Hotel, so we already know where we'd stay! Smile

Janfred, what do you like about Bermuda? I haven't heard/read much about it, just know I want to go there because it's one of the places I haven't hit yet! Smile

Cortney,
You will love it, no run down or poor places.
It is a most beautiful Island. We loved Horse Shoe Bay, which was voted one of the most beautiful beaches, in I think Travel Magazine, it was a few years ago I read that. Easy to get around, step off the ship in you are in town! May is a prime time to go, but I would go anytime! The Lady on board did tell me many people wanted Celebrity to go back to Bermuda and so it will happen in 2010 with bookings ready, she did believe in Mar or April!

Welcome back janfred! I know you're not happy to be home. I'm waiting to hear the rave reviews about the Solstice. I know you've got tons to do, so I'll wait patiently. Sure wish you had brought some warm weather back with you!

I do believe they enjoy an average of about 80 degrees in Sept. I went in May and it was also about 80. It is a beautiful place. Congrats on booking it !
