Gee! Even though Cozumel was expecting cruise ships to begin visiting there as of Nov. 14 - It doesn't look like Celebrity ships will be amongst the first:
Ships sailing from the Port of Miami
Zenith -- The Thursday, November 10, sailing of Zenith is unable to visit Key West Friday and Cozumel Saturday, due to the closures of the port in Cozumel and cruising time needed for an alternative port of call. Instead, the ship will spend the day at sea Friday and will make a port call in Georgetown, Cayman Islands, Saturday.
Ships sailing from the Port of Galveston
Galaxy -- The Saturday, November 12, sailing of Galaxy is unable to visit Cozumel Monday, due to the port's closure. Instead, the ship will spend that day at sea.
Do not be disappointed as to these itinerary changes. The cruise industry must be flexible enough in terms of changing itineraries due to weather, to ensure the safety of the crew and passengers. And Grand Cayman is a very interesting port of call.
Hi Fred, I agree that Grand Cayman is an interesting island and I always enjoy my visits there. And you are certainly correct that safety should always be the primary concen. However, there were some on this board that were looking forward to being one of the first ships to visit Cozumel post-Wilma. Nancy
I was in Grand Cayman in April. IMHO it looked like it had been scalped. The buildings were there and there was no sign of debris or damage to the structures, but the trees? Not too lush, not very green. My advice would be to book an excursion and get out of Georgetown asap. When I was there there were 5 cruise ships tendering people in and it was very crowded. If there is anyone in your party that is elderly or very overweight you might want to consider having them stay aboard. There is quite a logjam at the tender pier, as well as in the city itself, and as you know it gets very sunny and hot there. I am not saying you won't have fun- you might have the time of your lives. Just be prepared for the crowds and the lack of foliage over 5 feet high in the Georgetown area. Of course, it might be very different now than it was in April, too.

Went to Grand Cayman 2 months ago and it looked fine at least the town itself was perfect. Enjoy. At least you had Celebrtity substitute your ports. We were going to 18day trip transatlantic on the mellinium next week. 2 ports were taken away and two days. Dream vacation exp. after being hammered by Willma....They are not making any compensation worth taking.............
