My wife and I have been 3 cruises with Princess in the last few years and whilst they have all been good, it was clear that service and food have been getting steadily poorer.
We are thinking of going another cruise in September, October or November and are considering Celebrity as an alternative to Princess and in particular Hawaii on the Summit.
First of all, can we expect better service and food? Secondly, will dress codes be inforced - we hate to see shorts at dinner!
Finally, we are in our early 30's. Will there be many or any people close to our own age group?
Thanks

Haven't been on Princess yet but we've been on 3 Celebrity cruises so far. The service was incredible! I think you'd really like the Constellation.....there was a nice mix of ages in April when we cruised.

You will also find with Celebrity that less people are walking around the ship at night in their shorts and tank tops. In fact in their daily newletter they state the dress code for the night and ask that all people kindly respect the ambiance of the night.
We've only been on Princess, RCCL, NCL, Carnival, HAL, and Costa. My friends went on Celebrity for their wedding/honeymoon. They married in St. Thomas and spent the rest of their cruise as honeymooners. They totally enjoyed their experience with Celebrity. They dressed for dinner every night and told me the food was wonderful. My favorite is still Princess, but one day I may try Celebrity. If you do choose this, please let us know how your cruise was. Best wishes.
Just came back from my Eastern Med cruise aboard Galaxy and we had a blast. Would recommend it to anybody. Great itinerary, excellent service and the food was good. Yeah, they try to enforce dress policies at the Orion restaurant. I've never seen anybody wear jeans or shorts. Have a great cruise.
This will be our first Cruise with Celebrity in January 2007 the 29th 11 Night Mexican Rivere
We understand Celebrity is more up scale We have sailed on the Golden princeses last year and RCCL the last 4 years also sailed NCL / Crown / Sitmar (True the service and food have gone down hill) So we will now try Celebrity
You can't go wrong with Celebrity! There is a reason that they have 6 ships rated in the top 10! Service is Excellent. Ships are Pristine. We are in our late 30's and while we have found the crowd to be somewhat older than us it has been much to our benefit. We have enjoyed much quieter, romantic times, less crowded pool area, etc. It feels like there is so much more room sometimes since they are not based on the "Constant Party" theme. Shore tours don't sell out as fast.. So many things are so much nicer down to the white gloved waiters that carry your tray in the dining rooms! No, shorts will not be around at dinner and as a matter of fact the evening becomes an event itself as I was in the casino in shorts on formal night and felt a little outclassed. The evening is dictated by the dress at dinner and most will stay dressed for the shows and lounges that way until they retire. It is not Stuffy, just classy! Khakis and a Polo is just fine most nights. If you want to be waited on hand and foot and feel like royalty, this is it! If you want a Party.. well, you won't find one except in port. You will see on my tickers, I prefer Celebrity for Elegance, RCI for Cheap cruise just to get away.
Well said, handhaven. I toally agree w/you. I had the most wonderful satisfying travel experience aboard Galaxy on the eastern med cruise. Would recommend it to anybody.
