I hope it is better maintained than it was the last time we sailed it.It was run down and very dirty. I know they did a refurb but a friend went about 3 monts ago and he was not impressed to say the least.Good luck!

Thomas: Here were your words back September 23, 2006
RE: The new Century (in Celebrity Cruises) by thomas stanton Tom I am glad to hear the Century has improved. She was so rough before the refurb. that we quit sailing with Celebrity because of the condition's of thier ship's.We really liked the size and layout of the Century and the dinning room service was about the best out there. I sailed on the ship in August 2006. Celebrity put 55 million into the ship and it was absolutely wonderful. If anyone wants to read the latest reviews on the Century they can go here
Adrienne, We sailed on the Century's sister ship - the Mercury - last September. I think you are in for a very special time on a classy and wonderful ship. Not many on this site seem to be admirers of Celebrity, but I will tell you that they are a pleasure to sail with.
I don't know what your itinerary is, but this ship has lots of deck space just for walking around and enjoying the scenery, with the aft area being especially pleasant. If you have a veranda, all the better. I hope you will write a short review of your experience when you return. Have a great time!
Was on the Century for 13 days on a transatlantic crossing Oct/Nov.07 from Barcelona to Miami. They did a wonderful refurbishing job !One minor shortcoming only on the Century no covered swimming pool ! So if if it rains no swimming in the pool. Also the ship as all the others in the same class has at times a vibration problem in the rear.
I was on the Century back in August of 2004. I really didnt feel that it seemed very old. I loved the layout of the dining room, with the huge windows in the back. It was gorgeous to see the sun setting while having dinner. The ship is a little on the smaller side, but other than by looks, there's a lot to do, so you don't have that "small" impression. I did notice though too, that it had a little bit of a vibration problem at the stern...mostly only when we were pulling out of port. So of course, if you ever have dinner when the ship is scheduled to leave port, be prepared for a little bit of a bumpy meal. But it wasn't anything terrible, so honestly, don't be too concerned with it. The shows, I felt, were really nice. They had a little of everything - magicians, comedians, the Celebrity Singers and Dancers, etc. There's also a small movie theatre aboard, that plays a small variety of movies. I think you'll enjoy yourself.
I do not know where the confussion comes in.I stated to another party that I was glad the Century had improved after the refurb....I stated that the dinning room service was some of the best out there....And I stand by that statement.I also stand by my statement that before the refurb the Century was very rough...I do not plan on sailing on the Century anytime soon..But I thought I would clear up any problem with what I HAVE STATED, SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT....

Thomas, I think you are the one a bit confused. The reason I quoted what you said in September is because in your post of Feb 23, you say you hope the Century is better now then when you last sailed on it. Why would you make such a statement when you already knew that it was, and admitted as much, in your September statement.?
I was telling Tom the Administrator that I was glad that it was better now! What is so difficult for you to understand? I am glad for all who are sailing or going to sail on the Century that it is in better condition than it was in.I have always liked thier dining room service!I will not sail with them again until they get some new ships in service....... I do not like the way they let thier ships deteriorate...And by the way the Horizon was even worse than this..

And I didn't say that you had. It is obviously that you are totally missing the point that I was trying to make. Which was: that in your Feb 23 statement you said you hoped it was better than when you sailed on the Century. But in you September message to Tom you said you were glad to hear that it had improved. Which sounds like a contradiction to me. Since this post has gotten ridiculous over something that was posted more than a month ago I think we should just call a truce. Happy sailing to you whatever cruise line you choose.
I know the answer to all this tension.....How about a cruise everyone!!! Seems some of these threads are getting uptight. Even in some of my posts I can feel the defensive "hairs" start to stand up...
