Hello everyone,

My husband and I were wondering if Celebrity was a child friendly cruise line? We have 5 children under the age of 10. My husband and I were planning on having 3 children in our room and our other 2 children will stay in a room with my sister and her husband. Do they have activities for kids? Do they frown upon kids?

Celebrity's vessels have excellent youth facilities and great counselors. Have you looked at the children's program on their website?

Very brave taking 5 little ones on a ship...Check on babysitting arrangements while on the ship so you and your husband can have some alone time....Have a Great Cruise...

We've always found Celebrity to be very welcoming of families. While they might not have the extensive facilities of Royal Caribbean or Carnival, they still have a great youth program, as Dave mentioned. There's also plenty for them to do with you outside of the youth program. Our son enjoyed playing basketball, for instance, and he also enjoyed the after-dinner shows. They also offer a children's menu for dinner in the main dining room. There are a few areas on the ships that are adult-only, but as you are traveling with family, perhaps they can watch the kids for a bit while you enjoy them. We cruised with family on Infinity in 2006, and they had dinner with our son in the dining room while my husband and I went to the specialty restaurant.

Two questions: which ship will you be on, and how old are each of your kids?

Are you getting a suite of some kind? Most rooms on Celebrity's ships can not accommodate 5 people. A very few suites can have 5 with a queen or king bed, a pull out sofa that opens to a double bed, and a rollaway.

Taking two one-year old girls on a cruise can be a lot of work and not much vacation. That is a lot of diapers and baby food to bring along.

We took our son on his first cruise when he was 20 months old. He did fine but in retrospect I wouldn't do it again just because of all the work involved, such as carrying an umbrella stroller, car seat for the airplane, etc. And this was on the Celebrity Century, by the way. As I said, the boy did fine but my wife and I were worn out by week's end.

I'm impressed that you even have time to sit down at the computer, much less plan a vacation! You must have a lot of energy.

Hi Sandy,

I grew up as one of 7 children. I was the second oldest, so I grew accustomed to having alot of children to tend to early! My husband is one of 5 children. Our families knew each other so we often vacation with both families.
